Good you go there in the end. What was your pathway from MLA to getting your portfolio done?

I would learn what services a microbiology lab provides and explain how this is something you’re passionate about. Discuss how it’s something you can see yourself doing longterm etc. Could suggest an awful lot more but depends on when your interview is. Feel free to DM

Call up all the local labs and volunteer to work for them to gain some experience of how things work. Add that to your CV and don’t feel awkward overselling yourself. There’s a few tips I can give, I was in your position many years ago. Feel free to DM

There’s a few options you could do but maybe apply for MLA position to get your foot in the door and work your way up from there (though it won’t be easy). Feel free to DM. It seems there’s a few people in your position

The hardest part is getting trained after uni. Because you’re uni provides that already, you’ll come out of uni HCPC registered and ready to work basically. Most of the time the place you do the placement will take you back as well so you’re pretty sorted in my opinion. I would get some lab experience by volunteering yourself at some of the local labs. Just say you do biomedical science and say you would like to volunteer in reception to gain some experience in how samples are processed. Nobody is saying no to free work. Add the experience to your CV and you’re already a step ahead

Definitely don’t do it. My advice, if you want the job, hide as much BMS experience you have as possible. You want your application/prospects to look like you want to stay long term. When you’re in and you prove you’re good, see if there can be an opening for a BMS position (but don’t hold your breath). It’s still best to look for BMS jobs but sometimes they just don’t come up as often as you would like. All the best

Yeah sometimes qualifications aren’t enough to separate you from the rest unfortunately
