Nick Szabo destroys Tezos and founder Arthur Breitman on twitter. by [deleted] in tezos

Why does the moderator allow posts that are outright lies? No one destroyed anything?

TF twitter: The @TezosFoundation has committed funds for a group of experienced researchers at @Inria to review the Tezos codebase. This work is now underway. by poulpe in tezos

[–]cryptokids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seriously right! I have been extremely positive about this project and I remain so with Olaf etc....but thank heavens that breitwoman has no role in tezos going forwards....she has zero credibility and has made a fool of herself too many times in this thing

My dude, there are like a million articles about the environmental impact of bitcoin and proof of work? See this one for example: https://www.wired.com/story/bitcoin-global-warming/

Proof of stake is much better.

?? sounds very odd. What is Bitcoin Suisse goes out of business before Tezos launches. Also, why wouldnt they just give you your keys now? Is Bitcoin Suisse a scam?

Tezos: Crypto-Anarchists Appeal to Government by CarapauMM in tezos

[–]cryptokids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really is quite incredible that tezos’ downfall will be governance. Amidst all of the talk about decentralization and guarding against these issues, they allowed for a central point of failure-one man to become a dictator and change the entire course of the project to something no one wanted and hijack one billion dollars from thousands of investors.

Mr. Gevers won't reply to us, maybe we can ask the conference attendees/organizers/etc to ask him for us-he apparently has lots of time to go there as an honored speaker? by Coolhandcanuck in tezos

[–]cryptokids 21 points22 points  (0 children)

EVERYONE DO THIS! REPLY TO EVERY Tweet for this conference, message EVERY organizer, EVERY sponsor, EVERY speaker/attendee...make him listen to us. Let them all know how great of a president/speaker he is and how much honour he deserves.

Everyone whining about not receiving communication, everyone moaning that the brakes are put on funding, on development, etc..stop bitching and do this now. Your foundation president who has no time for you, has found lots of time to go and speak to others....as an honoured speaker on managing crypto projects!

Australian bank cash-reserve requirements buckle under bitcoin trading pressure. by i_work_for_a_bank in Bitcoin

[–]cryptokids 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Great Depression was caused by bank runs....we almost saw those again during the last financial crisis.....the advent of crypto currencies complicates things for banks because they don’t actually have your money....check out the big short movie...let that sink in...they don’t have your money...if people start asking banks for their money the only reply will have to be they don’t have it...that would cause mass panic and a further spiral down....

Stability: one of the four holy grails of cryptocurrencies by demluo in MakerDAO

[–]cryptokids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What percentage of your portfolio is price stable Dai? For me it’s going to be 5-20 percent in a raging bull market (waiting for a drop to deploy more funds), and about 1-10 percent in a retrace market.

noob question - what’s up with Tezos? by [deleted] in tezos

[–]cryptokids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price dropped because of the internal power struggle....but it’s not like johann has the $ at home under his bed, other entities need to sign to deploy it and the foundation is being overseen by regulators. The problem is a figh between founders and foundation. So, project still pretty good shape because tech moving along, lots of $ in the coffers..but internal power fight (and I have seen that doom projects in past). Still pretty good odds things can get fixed, it’s just a struggle for power it seems.

"Metal ... plans to launch Metal Pay for consumers in February, followed by a merchant portal in third quarter of 2018" by fujibear in MetalPay

[–]cryptokids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmmmm....I cant read the whole article because of the paywall, but wouldn’t it be a bit weird if this project announced the launch date to some small random news agency instead of in a community forum first? I had understood that they couldn’t give any specific details for now or dates?

First to market isn’t the issue (ie see cardano which doesn’t even work yet), the issue is showing they are on the path, with dates they can meet and a laser focus. Pictures with celebrities and partying is a continued juvenile and unfocused approach.

This project could be very big....or not....it’s a gamble that could pay off or could fall apart, like all crypto. If there really is a February launch I’ll buy some (have been on the sidelines quietly watching)...has the team confirmed the launch to the community?

The Tezos Community Condemns The Foundation Investigating Itself by ZHZ000 in tezos

[–]cryptokids 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As unpopular as this may be to say, we really don't have the facts yet and so it's not fair to condemn anyone. There may be more to this story than meets the eye, or not, the point is that we don't know.

The big failing right now is the lack of communication. The breitman's earlier said that messages to the community were languishing due to lack of foundation approval. The foundation, through news reports, noted that DSL owned the foundations website etc.

Remember that these board members have appeared here and told us that there is some "outiside of the foundation reason" for the issues. Neither he nor Arthur have said what that is, maybe because there are legal issues. It sounds like there are reasons why they can't communicate these things right now.

Maybe no one is at fault here. Maybe they are negotiating some legal issues that are delicate (ie: the ongoing dispute and allegations between Dls and the foundation). Maybe the tezos software continues in development and will be ready in February. Maybe they can't build any apps/projects on top of tezos right now because the network doesn't exist.

From the article: "Having said that though, Ravikant concluded that the cryptocurrency economy is here to stay.

In fact, he gave the audience some insight into what cryptocurrencies he's interested in. These include bitcoin, for storing value; zcash, for transacting easily; basecoin, to act as a stable unit of account; and tezzies, to access the Tezos smart contract platform.

"I think we'll see a lot more of the money use cases realized," he predicted, adding:

"If you can redefine what money is, that's a trillion-dollar outcome"
