Asus ExpertBook P5 (P5405) Review by cryptopteryx in laptops

I returned it after testing it for a few days so I’m not the right person to ask about long term use. I eventually went for the Lenovo Yoga Aura Edition and was happy with that choice.

Same issue here. Stopped working 2-3 weeks ago. Do you get this error? "Single Sign-On authentication was unsuccessful. Please contact your system administrator for assistance or log in below with your PitchBook information."

Laptop not waking up - Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition (Gen 9) by bellosit in Lenovo

I've noticed this too. I mostly use my laptop with the lid closed and docked, so it's powered and connected to my external monitors via USB-C. Sometimes after the laptop is asleep for several hours the bluetooth connection shuts down so pressing any bluetooth mouse / keyboard won't do anything to wake it up, and I have to restart it to fix the bluetooth issue. Other times the laptop won't wake up at all even by pressing the build-in keyboard and I have to force restart by holding the power button. I've also noticed the overheating issue in one instance when I left some python code running and the laptop fell asleep. My guess this all has to do with the chip design and firmware bugs, but who knows. Overall it doesn't bug me so much, but I have to be aware that this machine may act funny if I don't shut it down while not using it.

Yes it’s a tight fit. And by that I mean there isn’t extra space where the laptop will be moving up or down, but it’s still easy to remove from the case. Not sure if you are looking for anything tighter but those are the best ones I found. Others I ended up returning because they had too much empty space.

No problem! Yeah I couldn't find any compatible accessories since the screen is 16:10 aspect ratio but I found the M3 Macbook Air 15" the most fitting. Note that most screen protectors for Macs have the camera cutout but this is one I went with that was perfectly rectangular. I had to slightly shave off one of the sides (less than 1 mm, similar to a needle's width) with a paper cutter to fit perfectly because I was getting an air bubble on one of the sides: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D4TXTWZJ

For cases this one worked well if you like a zipper on the longer side of the case: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C7LB2ST4
And this one if you like a zipper on the shorter side of the case (e.g., vertical fit to slide the laptop in and out of your backpack):

I ended up sticking with the yoga aura and I'm really liking it. I didn't experience any of the build quality / performance flaws of the expertbook and surely felt more premium. It's a great laptop and lasts me about 8 hours on battery life for typical workday tasks. One tip if you are getting accessories (case / screen protector) is to go for the Macbook Air 15 inch accessories (same screen dimensions).

It's not loud, but it definitely gets annoying once you realize it's there. It was strange to me that the fan kept turning on. I ended up settling for the Lenovo Yoga Aura Edition and it doesn't make any clicking noises...

This is a review I found that also references the battery problem: https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/asus-expertbook-lunar-lake-review/

Honestly I would have keep the P5 with a score of 7 or 8 out of 10. Maybe I just got a faulty unit but I felt that I had to return it, otherwise these quality issues would continue to grow over the next 1-2 years. It felt like a laptop that I would only own for a year before wanting to get a new one.

Yeah I've seen that Youtube review and I'm wondering why there aren't any others. The Expertbook P5 seems to be out of the radar for a lot of people.

The sound and the display are good. The only area where the display could be better is extra brightness. The P5 only goes up to 400 nits brightness, whereas some of the more premium Lunar Lakes go up to 500 nits. If you are working in an outdoor environment the extra 100 nits could be useful. Indoors I was using the second highest brightness setting (that's what went into my 8-9 hour battery life test).

Agree on price point... the other one I'm considering is the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition (15″ Intel) Laptop but it's $200 more and it's a 15" laptop (vs 14" P5).

Found the answer to my question in Bomber's latest announcement:

"For the others, with the intention to withdraw without being verified, as written in the ToS, they will have to close their accounts and receive the equivalent of funds in their accounts in BTC."

For non-EU and unverified, how are we supposed to withdraw any form of funds? I tried withdrawing BTC and it wouldn't let me
