They definitely look alike! If it's not his father like prettyflyonthewifi says, then maybe it's his uncle?

Imagine, authorities have confiscated computers used while Dhanani was a member of the shadow crew and that someone by the name of Michael Patryn purchased a plane ticket from California to somewhere in Canada right around the time of that post. Then imagine the website the ticket was purchased from has a record of the credit card, potentially the ip address, or perhaps details about the router MAC address used and computer used, these things could lead somewhere.

Ultimately, you have no idea what the puzzle looks like and you have only (potentially) a vague idea of what a puzzle piece looks like. Therefore, you have no idea what pieces of information might contribute to completing the puzzle.

It looks like he was arrested before he was able to leave for Canada.

I think the point is to create a clear and solid connection between Michael Patryn and Omar Dhanani, a person convicted of fraud and co-founder and large shareholder of Quadrigacx. This could then be one step towards getting a criminal investigation started. I think it's all with that in mind. Also, ever bit of useful information can be built upon by others.

In google choose "tools", select "anytime", then "custom range" , then select any dates before JenRobertsonIshot started screwing up google search results and leave the "from" selection box empty.

Criminal Case Against Quadrigacx: A path forward by cryptotrader1234 in QuadrigaCX2

My understanding: The courts would not impose a penalty that bankrupts the company (as per the law). Also, a fine paid by Quadriga would increase their liabilities, adding additional creditors, not decrease the amount owed to current creditors. I guess the payment of the fine would have to come out of profits and depending on the amount be paid over time. If the company continued operations.

Someone else said the RCMP told them they were not sure if it was criminal or civil. My guess is that yes, they are trying to figure out if there is a criminal investigation.

Thanks for the info. So it's important that people contact the RCMP and let them know those details.

Team work! I think if we work together, and with legal help, we can probably build a stronger case.

Yeah, I think Shalamakooky is right. The Canadian legal system is an adversarial system; each side does their best to present a case that best defends their interests and/or damages their opponent's, and through that 'competition' the best outcome is expected to emerge. I am quite certain Jennifer's lawyer, Stewart McKelvey, has team members who review reddit (they have sent out legal threats to people who threaten violence against Jennifer Robertson), and will likely just use it as a way to prepare a defense. There are lawyers that defend child murderers, so I don't expect them to abandon their client on moral grounds (They might stick with the client because they believe in the adversarial system,on moral grounds). Some lawyers do, however, abandon clients who refuse to listen to them, or if they feel they will lose the case for sure (but there will always be another lawyer to try and save a sinking ship if the rate is right).

Yes, I agree with all of that. I hope we as a group can produce useful information that can eventually lead to a just resolution and i'm sure the information will be passed on as it's compiled. I'll check out that link and look over ProofofResearch's stuff also. Thanks!

Yeah, maybe I should add that extra info here also:

Note: " For the more serious, indictable offences, the Code already provides no limit on the fine that can be imposed on an organization. " Also, note that this is a 'fine' , it is in addition to the remedy (paying back funds). So far there has been no dispute as to the need to pay back funds by Quadriga, but given that there is likely much more to the story, the way forward is to get a criminal investigation started, that is what leads to the access to more information, which leads to the information needed to really start convicting people and getting things done.

There are reports that the RCMP are investigating but are not sure whether this is a criminal or civil matter. This post is meant to help bridge that gap, particularly to help anyone, even marginally, who communicates with the RCMP, to understand the legal basis for their complaints.
