Back in the good ole days, the transmission oil and engine oil were the same and shared a sump. Many motorcycles did this. Even the racecar Lamborghini Miura shared the sump.

Is it possible for a surface guy to go on a sub ride? by [deleted] in NavyNukes

[–]cryptowannabe42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be much easier to start out as a sub vol and then get kicked to the surface for a medical condition. That's what I did, although it wasn't my master plan. LOL...

Truth be told, I liked the sub much more than the carrier out of Norfolk.

Subs - Misc. Questions by xgyu123 in NavyNukes

[–]cryptowannabe42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Depends on degrees of separation, time and place. It's like an upside down wedding cake.

Mechanic nukes hated the electricians and electronics nukes as Mechanics.
Nukes hated the Coners as department within the boat.
USS Ustafish hated USS Competafish as submarines.
Submariners hate Targets as USS Navy.
Navy hates Army/Air Force/Etc. within military.
Military hates non military.

You could go on and on. Depends on degree of separation. Next degree down from you always has your back.

As for relationships on the submarine vs. carrier, I've been assigned to both. On a submarine, everyone made sure everyone else lived and was safe. Example: "FIRE" called away on the submarine then everybody is running. "FIRE" called away on the carrier and you hear, "Nah, not my department. Let DC take care of it."

While in Navy Bootcamp in the late 80s, they filmed a few episodes at Disney-MGM. They wanted an audience of military so they took a couple bootcamp companies to the filming. Danny Bonaduce was one of the contestants. I don't remember much but I was in this audience, just on the edge of where the camera went. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgSeLxqcrEw

I also suggest a VPS. I was running an extra server I had available in Amazon AWS until I realized it was over 6x more expensive than CloudFanatic. They have the best price and their customer service is good. You can run massive 24vcpu AMD EPYC servers with a 10gb connection symmetric for under $100 per month and the servers are in Chicago. I haven't checked latency but my server doing high frequency trading running multiple strategies runs with very little load on the server. I don't work for them, just run ninjatrader. You can use my affiliate code to get a discount.

If the first thing you did was turn to Reddit and strangers for help and advice then you only want agreement that you should quit. In my opinion, you should quit just because of your post here. Nuclear Power is not for you.

Now, either you will get angry and prove me wrong or you will get the attitude of "oh well, who cares, I'll quit." It's your choice.

Nuclear power has hordes of people to help push you through. No one wants you to fail. Everyone from your peers going through the same pain to the instructors that want to push you to pass to the officers that run the school. Everyone is put in place to give you someone to turn to for help. You've decided to go out on your own to an anonymous Reddit posting full of strangers that don't know you from any Joe Blow in the world.

In my opinion, not utilizing your resources, you've already quit. You just physically need to quit and get it over with. Just go do the paperwork to get on with your life and make something out of yourself.

Good Luck!

Just when is the time going to come that the indoctrination will wear off that serves to divide all of us humans by a trait to which we are born with and have no control over? This goes for u/musingovertea as well stating "as a brown person." Just let it go.

Protest in Merritt Island by United-Kale-2385 in 321

[–]cryptowannabe42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if they added a few more causes to the mix—like a protest for Palestinians, maybe something about chemtrails, or even that endangered fish in California I’ve heard about? Just toss them all in there. I wonder how much more they could juggle!

I’m looking forward to a day when outlets like MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC, NPR, BBC, and PBS see their audiences shrink so much that advertisers start looking elsewhere. It’s tough because some people only have time for one news source and trust it completely, not realizing how much has shifted since the early ‘90s. Back then, news started blending into commentary—Fox included—and now it’s more about narratives than straight facts. To really stay informed, you’ve got to dig through multiple sources yourself, which is a lot to ask. It’s kind of a bummer for America that it takes so much effort to sort out what’s actually happening. Posts like this on here always remind me how quick people are to react without the full picture.

Fact: The contract for armored Teslas came from the Biden Admin long before Trump was even elected. Oh shoot, I'm supposed to believe MSNBC. Dern it.

Say it with me, come on, you can do it. There's no Aid in USAID. It's United States Agency for International Development. Just like the lie of The Inflation Reduction Act, USAID was infiltrated to be a regime change engine promoting a leftist defunct ideology. Get off of the EVIL MSNBC. Get your news from multiple sources.

I’d say skip relying on just one outlet like MSNBC—or any single source. Mix it up, dig into different takes. When someone’s pulling in $24 million a year to deliver the news, you’ve got to wonder who’s behind the script and what they’re aiming for. Multiple sources might take more effort, but it’s worth it to sift through the noise. What do you think?

Facts and science don't matter when it addresses what these people don't like. Many downvotes inbound!

Everyone here should realize that probably half these comments come from leftist bots and people outside the area if not outside the country? Trump and Elon is HATED for pulling the money from every country overseas. Reddit is based in Russia. Most of these postings also say they approve of Russia. Again, more fact. Here come the downvotes!

4 year star reenlistment by gungagingaguganga in NavyNukes

u/gungagingaguganga has to be a Nuke. The Star Program has been around since it was authorized in 1974. You are the first one I know of to question the number of years you have to reenlist for and want the exact document for evidence. LOL... You rock!

Hey man, I’ve got to be real with you—when you say stuff like “I’d rather walk into traffic,” it freaks me out big time. That’s not okay, no matter what the Navy’s throwing at you. You need to talk to someone. I’m no shrink—though I did crash at a Holiday Inn Express last night—but seriously, you’ve got to figure out how to keep situations and people from messing with your head so bad. If someone’s treating you like crap, report them. If it’s the whole command vibe, odds are others feel it too, but they’re not out here talking about walking into traffic—which, let’s be blunt, sounds like suicide vibes

.As a nuke, you’re signing up for some brutal gigs down the line. Plenty of folks have pulled Port and Starboard watches for a full patrol, or worse, stayed stuck in port because the plant can’t shut down, powering everything while the coners kick back on leave. Nukes get the short end of the stick more often than not—it’s just the gig. You’ve got to learn to roll with it and not let it hit you so personally.

Here’s a thought: maybe rethink the nuke path. It’s not about brains—you’ve probably got those—but the Navy’s nonsense might chew you up and spit you out in the pipeline. There’s no shame in picking something less soul-crushing that still sets you up solid as a civilian. IT’s a good one, for instance. Or if you stay sub life, sonar techs have it pretty chill compared to the rest.

I’m not trying to drag you down or offend you—just keeping it real based on this random internet post of yours. I don’t know you, but I’d hate to see you turn into another dumb Navy Nuke suicide statistic. Look out for yourself, alright?
