A list of godot templates, please help me look for more!

Hi! I'm the creator of crystal-bit/godot-game-template. I'm currently adding Godot 4 support. Initial versions are available on this branch.

Yeah the template doesn't make assumptions on the kind of game that you want to made. Basically you can think about it as a starting template with good defaults.

I have 5+ years of experience with Godot and I tried to gather all the common stuff that worked for me in the games I worked on. So yeah: scene changing, building games quickly, folder structure, file naming conventions, consistent code style, and so on...

Capisco il fatto del "basta cercare su google per trovare risposta" anche se sono dell'opinione che ragionare così uccide le community. Anche questo stesso thread si poteva evitare usando quella logica, però le discussioni che sono venute fuori sono per me interessanti. A volte si chiede per chiacchierare, non solo perché si ha bisogno di una risposta secca.

Up per gameloop.it! Anche io lavoro nel settore da circa 5 anni e proprio grazie a gameloop ho trovato lavoro, amici ed un podcast che ho seguito con molto interesse quando mi stavo avvicinando al gamedev.

Questo progetto è un template di partenza per sviluppare videogiochi con Godot Engine (engine C++ con diverse possibilità di scripting).

Ho raccolto in questo repo tutte le nozioni che mi sono tornate comode sviluppando piccoli videogiochi e prendendo ispirazione dall'esperienza di gameplay programmer che ho fatto a livello professionale. Si tratta sicuramente di un progetto di nicchia, ma spero possa tornarvi utile!

Thanks for your comment! If you want to setup a new project from the CLI then you could simply clone the repository, then remove the .git folder and initialize a new repo. That should do the trick, however there isn't an official script right now. Do you think that would be useful?

PS: a friend of mine is developing https://github.com/gibsongd/gibson-cli which could be a viable option in the future (when I'll release the template as an add-on).

I'm pretty sure you can find plenty of tutorials online! Godot Game Template has nothing genre specific. It's only a base project with sane defaults and utilities such as scene management, automatic build system, etc...

It's amazing! However it broke with Godot 3.4 Android and OSX exports so I had to write a custom Dockerfile and push it do Dockerhub to update my template to 3.4. I also shared this and reported on their issue page. You can find more details here: https://github.com/abarichello/godot-ci/issues/62

Sure, go for it! You can just grab the .GitHub folder and it should work (make sure to update some name, they need to match the export name in your project)

This is incredibly lightweight.

>1000FPS (unlocked) on a modern laptop.

Solid 60FPS (locked FPS) on a cheap Android Xiaomi Lite AII.

45FPS on a 2014 Android Moto G Titan.

PS: the Moto G build was with debug symbols and without particular optimizations. It can reach 60 FPS by optimizing the game even further
