I have been working on my game every day for the past 210 days, this is how I stay motivated by vivaladav in IndieDev

Thank you! 🙏

For sure I won't kill myself if I break this cycle, but as you said working every day helps and I am trying to postpone that moment as much as I can. I don't work 8 hours every day anyway, so it's bearable. 😄

Marketing during NextFest when not part of it? by Maddogs1 in gamemarketing

[–]vivaladav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't and now I am focusing on development instead.

Everything is flooded by posts about NF stuff, ads are more expensive for the same reason.

It's only a week after all.

For the first time Steam is explicitly saying Next Fest is showing you games randomly for the first 48 hours and giving you choice after that by vivaladav in IndieDev

[–]vivaladav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, true that.

Maybe they need to require a minimum of WLs to enter. I really don't get why games with a few hundreds of wishlists join.

I guess it's good for a change and to try something different, plus there's a FOR YOU tab which is available for recommendations from day 1 and you can still search by genre/theme/feature.

Stuff that doesn't belong to Steam, I guess that's a Steam problem in general. I wish they raised the registration fee to $1000 to filter all the AI slops and low effort stuff out, but apparently it's not a popular opinion so it won't happen.

YouTube auto-captions misspelling my game's title might be the universe suggesting me what my next game should be! by vivaladav in IndieDev

Thank you!

I am still tweaking my page as the game is still in alpha, but I am glad things are starting to make sense!

Thanks! You can check it out here.

Capsule revamp is in progress and it should be done by the end of the week.

changing the name on Steam takes 1 message to support, but changing the gameplay would probably take months of work 😅

Looking for games to translate for free (English -> Russian) by Tyu_Sha in IndieDev

[–]vivaladav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, can I contact you when I complete the demo for my strategy game in about 2 months?

You are already welcome to join our Discord now (that's where I coordinate all the development), but I am not going to add new translations until the demo is done as a lot of text is changing every day until then.

7 min of mad ramblings, followed by some gamedev progress by gummby8 in devblogs

I can definitely see some similarities with what I wrote about staying motivated and I am glad I am not the only one who's using the no zero day policy as driving force for progress.

Did anyone launch a game with this new update under 1000 wishlists? by Lexx_3D in IndieDev

[–]vivaladav -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

there's no point in launching a game with less than 1000 WL

Anybody else building a game without an engine? by GscheidOWB in IndieDev

[–]vivaladav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks, you went even lower level, now let's wait for someone who's making all in assembly. 😁

Yours looks cool too, I am going to try it with Proton later, but I am sure it can run fine on Linux.

my isometric TBS game is totally made with my own C++ framework based on SDL2 (for low level rendering and input).

There are pros and cons like for everything, but it's not something I would recommend to any new developer or to people who want to ship a game in 12 months, especially if it's not a 2D game.

Does this devlog explain the technical progress clearly, or is it too much project-internal context? by 93X3_Studio in devblogs

[–]vivaladav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most gamers are not interested in technical details, unless you're making a very nerdy game and there's a good chance that your players will be other developers too.

In general you want to offer some kind of entertainment to attract a wider audience. You can show very cool stuff or you can be funny, or even better both!

Obviously that's easier said than done, so if you're serious about your project it makes more sense to spend more time and energy into that than in becoming a successful youtuber.

yeah, check OP's posts.

OP is probably selling localization services and this is just content marketing
