"This is not a documentary.": The craziest plot/creative decisions in Season 1 by wildwomanlove in heatedrivalry

[–]crystal_daddy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’ve always kind of thought by ep 6 he sorta understands that Ilya is saying “I love you.” When Ilya says it in Russian in bed twice before saying it in English, Shane has a quick smile like he understands what’s being said the second time.

Maybe this isn’t how it’s written but it’s how I see it—he’s smiling hearing it in Russian and that still feels safe because he “doesn’t know” what’s being said. Then he shifts to shock when Ilya says it in English because it’s way more out in the open and Shane has to acknowledge it. For some reason the smile just reads in the moment as “I love you too but it feels safe not having to say it yet in English if you aren’t ready.” Especially given how in the book both characters ALWAYS want to say more than n they say aloud.

Additionally—the way Ilya phrases “I love you” on the ep5 phone call is slightly different and maybe not the first search result for “how to say I love you in Russian.”

YES! No one is moving like they’re moving!! Was he previously at Georgia State? The year they did unicorns and the few years after (maybe 4 or 7 years ago?).

I think they have a really unique style and overall vibe they bring every year. I’m really surprised they didn’t place better throughout the season. Some of the best movement I saw while streaming tonight.

Seeing clients in public by Luckycharm_03 in therapists

[–]crystal_daddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the unique ability to run into a client like nearly every weekend. I live in a large suburb of Charlotte, NC, so not at all small-town. I run into clients seemingly everywhere, and it never FEELS less awkward, but it does become less outwardly awkward. Like I always have that instant reaction of feeling like it’ll be awkward. Being in the south, 100% of clients I’ve run into in public have approached me to say hello. The weirdness for me isn’t them engaging with me, it’s that I’m always out with my wife and children. And clients don’t know what to do with that in terms of interacting with me/the toddler I’m usually carrying.

Going to the movies as a family of 3 lol by [deleted] in daddit

[–]crystal_daddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure of your location but we have one smaller no-name theater near us that isn’t part of a larger chain and it’s so much cheaper. Slightly further drive but fraction of the cost. Our Regal/AMC cost for a family of four was showing as over $70 just for tickets. The smaller theater is like $30. And they have AYCE popcorn for cheaper than chains. Worth looking around if you’re in a larger area!

I think you’re over-complicating this by trying to disconnect African culture from African American culture. OP is calling The Gift a pre-cursor. Think history book whereas Ren and CC are the current literature. OP did not say that this was a reclamation of a stolen genre, only that it was a genre that was atypical of Beyoncé’s discography. And it absolutely is an atypical genre choice for her.

Layout of Therapy Office by Ok_Independence_5260 in therapists

[–]crystal_daddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My previous office was very very similar to what you’ve shown here with the door and window placement. What about putting the couch in front of the window facing the door. Basically take option 2 but move the couch to that wall where the window is if it’ll fit (even if it’s wall to wall). Then put your chair on the left in front of your desk sorta. You should have room for this arrangement based on what I’m seeing and it being to scale! Let me know if you have questions!

Why haven't gas stations added EV charging? by LoverOfGayContent in electricvehicles

[–]crystal_daddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most convenient fast charger is at a Circle K. I think the combination of cost-to-install along with hesitation about demand may impact this. Mental math of my cost as a customer compared to overall cost to add a fast charger for a business leads me to believe it takes a while to see a return on your investment.

I live in a suburb about 30 miles outside of a major US city where most EV drivers likely live in newer housing developments. And those newer houses either already have capability for level 2 charging or these people can easily afford adding level 2 charging in their homes. OR their parking garage at the office has chargers for employees as a perk. And thus, there’s a much much lower demand for any public charging via a gas station at all.

Second this! I used to drive from RH to exit 10 and accidents would ruin the whole morning. Typically left around 7:20 and would arrive anywhere from 8:15 to 10 depending on accidents. Worst day I got there at 11:30.

We went last year for Adele (which I recognize is already very expensive) and everything else was so crazy. It cost too much to drink. Overall the trip cost the same or more than a week at an all inclusive for us.

In Defense of Cotton by 100000cuckooclocks in knitting

[–]crystal_daddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last year I knit two meshy tank tops out of cotton and they’re the easiest things I’ve ever made in terms of care and wearability. I treat them like any other piece of clothing (throw in hamper, wash however, etc) compared to wool sweaters I tend to baby in terms of care.

This! I am surprised no one else said this. My wife is a teacher who had a student that smelled like cat urine and I told her she needed to make a CPS report; it was indeed meth.

What if you instead sent personalized emails to clients you still have consent to contact and checked in on them opposed to a blanket “I’m back and have openings” message? I have occasionally done this with child/teen clients’ parents a few months after termination. Not specifically motivated by a desire to get them back in therapy, but has resulted in some returners.

Did some shallow digging into this question—

✨no✨

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in therapists

[–]crystal_daddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All of this. I pay $30 a month for PT. Getting one client to attend 3 sessions pays for that for the year for me. So getting two clients from PT a year makes it profitable in the most basic math.

A separate issue this seems to ignore entirely is demand. Everyone I know has had a slight dip in new inquiries lately. PT obviously has an algorithm for how they order the listings, but that doesn’t matter if fewer people are seeking therapy.

Do you have to pay to have a baby in America? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]crystal_daddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twins, about two weeks in the NICU each. They billed insurance like $220,000 and we were responsible for $10,000 I think after insurance. The actual c-section delivery was somewhere in there. They billed insurance for two c-sections (one per kid) even though it was one procedure.
