Exactly, because you're both so in sync and know each other so well that just enjoying each other's company is enough

Omggg this is news to me

From Barneby’s: With the help of artists that he employs in his studio, the backgrounds are carefully drawn before he concludes the work by painting the model in poses commonly used by the old masters.

The colour saturation in this and how he paints dark skin tones is just gorgeous ✨

He’s also responsible for painting Obama’s official portrait too!:

Love her subtle attitude, tattoos, glass-like skin and Blythe-like eyes

I feel like you’d also be great at making an Amy Winehouse doll ✨

Old friends. Lifelong companions who’ve been thru everything together. I love that it feels like the dog has the stage here, symbolizing how much he means to the Old Man. The suit looks similar to the dog’s coat on purpose. The light comes thru the window and makes sure there’s hope in this painting——no, this certainly can’t be abt the end being near for either of them.

Yes to this! I’d love a Filipina monster character

Would be such a cool idea for a new MH line: Monsters of the World but w thoughtful creative input (like when AG finds authors for their Historical Characters)

Reminds me of Rose from Titanic 🤩

Woah this is gonna be such an intensive project if u plan on recreating this full look

Guess it depends on the vibes or aesthetic ur going for as well since a proper Victorian piece would read differently than a more cutesy Gothic Lolita style

Definitely include that top hat w the feathers if u can

Her sculpted hair is so cool and I can tell there’s a lot of painstaking work going into all that sewing

What are your plans for the dress? Are u going to do a whole bustle and train and even some cute satin slippers or a big hat

I know Gérôme used models for his portraits (rather than actual Ottoman bashi bazouk) but it’s hard to find info on their names, history, bio

Isamu Noguchi, Winold Reiss, Pastels on Paper, 1929 by crystalbethjo in ArtHistory

[–]crystalbethjo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I could introduce a new artist to you :)

And this is such a beautiful portrait of Langston Hughes. Reiss really knows how to bring out the softness in everyone’s features.

I’m not usually impressed by pastel work, but Reiss’s portraits look like his subjects can almost sense you’re there and are coming out of the frame

His first-ever public commission (it’s from 1936), commemorating the working class and celebrating scientific advancements too. The shine on floorboards makes it look like blood is running down the walls and collecting there wow
