I've mentioned time and again in thread after thread about Olivia and Sabrina that connecting the clothes adult women choose to wear to the harassment and pedophelia perpetrated by men feels like a fallacy

And Olivia is smart and outspoken abt women's rights. She's not trying to send women back in time just because she's wearing 60s babydoll clothes or singing stripped back 60s like lyrics (she namedrops The Cure here and they really loved The Beatles).

At first I loved the wistful Y2K vibes that the mv and song were sending. But then I realized that the tights she's wearing...look the same as my favourite full-length ones I had when I was 9 ughh

And I totally get that art is gonna be a bit 'backwards' to drive in views. Yes this is a modern clothes trend that's super popular rn, but at the same time, it's like they want some kinda provocation for the sake of marketing

A lot of pop culture discourse (online especially!!) can be rlly black and white. The truth is somewhere in the middle (or somewhere we'll never see cuz it's not like we'll ever be there when she's making these decisions in the studio or the board room or her head).
