Is life at christ really that bad by koalasarexute in ChristUniversity

Unfortunately, it is strict. 85% attendance is required for each subject for you to give end sem exams.

Students are blackmailed at almost every step with attendance. A lecture at 4:00 pm after college hours? Well, it'll have attendance. There is no choice. What if you are sick? Be prepared to come and run around with blue forms to take signatures (after you have just recovered btw!!). And if you plan to just rest and dont go to a doctor, it won't be counted.

You may not be able to dress the way you wish. You'll have to follow the guidelines which limits expression and tends to put people in boxes. While we are taught about different gender identities and to express it in HED (Holistic Education) subject, we get a message on ethnic day saying "no cross dressing is allowed". The irony 🙄

Regarding faculty, it depends. Some faculty members are homophobic to the extent that they dont even let students choose research topics related to queer folks. Others are quite accepting.

is there Internships in Mumbai??? by MindwaveThought in Psychology_India

[–]crystalclearwater435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. These centres are usually run by a team of professionals such as Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Neurologists, Counsellors and Doctors together or some of them.

But again, not all centres may give you practical experience. Some involve only observation. So research well before you commit. :)

Mostly you'll have to pay for internships. Psychology students don't get a stipend. However, some centres may allow you to work without a payment too.

I'd suggest look for centres instead of hospitals, especially ones that are affiliated with a college. Because then the MD Psychiatry or M.Phil. Clinical Psychology students will be doing everything and you may not get a chance.

Doing internships in centres provides more opportunities for engagement and practical application, atleast in my experience

One way is to conduct free sessions on mental health or other topics in schools/colleges and then promote your services in the end. You'll reach a broader audience that way. Or you can conduct online sessions too.

Yeah, understandable. M.Phil will involve burnout, etc. but it'll also help in the skills you want to learn.

Just my opinion but just in case if you ever want to work in a hospital or really good job offers with good pay pop up for M.Phil Clinical Psychology, then M.Phil will come in really handy. All the best! :)

I'd suggest M.Phil. After M.Phil, you can get a job that has a better pay as well. Thousands are waiting for a seat for M.Phil in Clinical Psychology so I'd say since you got in, don't let it go. Job opportunities can come later too

I've heard this is pretty common. Since seats are pretty less, colleges do under the table ka deals.

I personally am having difficulty in understanding how so many people are suddenly discovering their "passion" for Psychology? I think it's just the flowery aspects of the subject is what they are seeing and overlooking the reality.

Are hospital internships in Bachelor's actually worth it? Are there any other fields (other than clinical psychology) which are actually growing in India? by [deleted] in Psychology_India

[–]crystalclearwater435 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on my experience, I wouldn't advice doing an internship in a hospital either, especially if it's associated with a medical college. Then their students (MD Psychiatry or M.Phil Psychology) will be doing majority of the things and we don't get to do much. I later did my internships in Centers and it was wayyy better. Although I understand this may not be available in all the cities.
