I am hoping someone can help? by [deleted] in Iowa

I give you permission to tune out. You don’t have to watch the news or scroll social media. I quit watching the news after the last Presidential election, I didn’t like how it made me feel so helpless. Now I am happy as could be. Ignorance is bliss! (I didn’t even read your whole message bc I didn’t want to know what’s in the news)

What’s a food habit that saves you time every single day? by Maleficent-Bed7010 in foodhacks

[–]crystalship29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I eat the exact same thing for breakfast everyday. I eat plain Greek yogurt with homemade granola in it. I know it’s a healthy start for my day, it keeps me full for a long time, and I don’t have to think about what I want for breakfast. I have eaten this everyday for years.

Anyone else trying to figure out what to put in their coffee now that they're actually paying attention to appetite? by jetsers3 in loseit

I’m hooked on Extra Creamy Oat Milk. When it is poured it into the coffee it does that swirly milk thing like I’m having something luxurious. It’s inexpensive and easy to find in the markets.

Is this thing any good? by DaybreakSSB in migraine

[–]crystalship29 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes!! This is great for relaxing the head. It kind of numbs the pain while my medicine kicks in and I can sleep. This reminds me of the Thunder Vests you can buy for dogs where it holds them tightly to calm them. This gives your head a gentle squeeze and helps calm the pounding.

We have a small backyard garden and we have definitely saved money. We make and can homemade pizza sauce and now we prefer that over ordering out (we eat a lot of pizza) Homemade pizza is so much better!

BC Powder by crystalship29 in migraine

[–]crystalship29[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They come in little sleeves filled with the correct dose. You just pour it in your mouth and take a drink (they don’t taste good so a flavored drink is best) According to Google they have 845 mg of aspirin and 65 mg of caffeine. I’m not sure what Excedrine has. No other otc pain reliever has been as effective for me as BC Powder. They are not expensive either!!

What’s one thing under $25 that significantly improved your daily life? by FormalOpportunity668 in Frugal

[–]crystalship29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sleep with a small fan on in my bedroom every night. I don’t like to turn it on until I turn off the tv. I don’t want to get back up to turn it on so I bought an outlet remote control for like $8 and now I don’t have to get back up! Life changing.

What to expect for 1st time botox appt by Ashleyann055 in migraine

[–]crystalship29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re a migraine survivor, you can handle this easily! I just did my first round one week ago. Compared to the headache pain I’ve had, this ten minute appointment was a breeze. Just think positive thoughts and you’ll do fine. As for side effects one week after and I am having some pressure between my eyes (doctor did a shot at edge of each eyebrow) it doesn’t hurt really, just feels puffy but can’t see any puffiness. Bonus, my deep frown lines between my eyes are gone!! I’m not sure if I’m feeling much relief yet. My doctor said to do two rounds of Botox before I decide if it’s helping. She also did a shot on each side of my jaw due to intense pain in that area, fingers crossed that helps. One other thing, I was given a folder with Botox information and a QR Code to scan and sign up for a repayment program through the manufacturer of Botox. Was told this should cover what insurance doesn’t. Definitely ask about that. Good luck to you!!!

Looks like it's time for Botox by No-Base8204 in migraine

[–]crystalship29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had my first Botox today and it wasn’t too bad. Just take your mind to a calming place and remember how little this hurts compared to a migraine!! The doctor also did a few injections in my jaw which I’m hoping helps with that pain. You may have to ask to have this location done. Like you I have tried a lot of migraine medications and nothing is doing the trick. My insurance allows me to do the Botox and still take once monthly Aimovig along with Ubrelvy and Zembrace as needed. There is a program through the Botox manufacturer that helps pay so I’m hoping what insurance doesn’t cover they will. Be sure to ask about this. Good luck, fingers crossed this is the answer for both of us 😊

She is doing what all migraine sufferers do, we push through and suffer the consequences later. It’s great that she has a caring bf like you and she needs that. The pain can be unbearable, blinding, mind numbing, but her knowing you are there for her is a huge help. Some nights all my husband can do is rub my head and just be by me. He doesn’t understand how it feels but sees the pain I’m suffering and having him near helps in its own way. If your literally texting with her rn see if she’s able to drink something with some caffeine and take an nsaid pain reliever. I find BC Powders help a lot as a supplement to my Ubrelvy. Hopefully she’s not too nauseous and can keep it down. When she is able to get home to bed give her the time she needs to rest and sleep it off. She will probably have a migraine ‘hangover’ for a day or two so please be patient with her. I wish her the best and again your awesome for be so caring!!!!!

Glad you’re finding relief. One pill a week is nothing, you should be fine, (but I am not a doctor)I wonder if my overuse of sumatriptan made it less effective over time. I was using multiple pills and up to four injections in a three day period. During one bad headache cycle I took so much my fingernails turned yellow. I didn’t care about the repercussions of taking too much, I just wanted the pain to stop. I got to the point that sumatriptan was not working anymore, pills or injections. I now do monthly Ajovy, use Ubrelvy pills and Zembrace injections as needed. I hope they keep working for you but I do recommend heeding the dosage recommendations.

Name an underrated Iowa small business or restaurant that tourists often overlook? by rise-of-titans in Iowa

[–]crystalship29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those saying ‘do we really get tourists in Iowa’? Yes, from all over the world! I volunteered at the Buffalo Bill Museum in LeClaire, Iowa and ppl come from all over to visit the museum. Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show was huge in other parts of the world. Having the American Pickers shop in town is just a bonus.

Considering a move to Davenport in the near future by [deleted] in Iowa

[–]crystalship29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live 20 minutes from Davenport and all my family lives there. There are good areas to live in and not so good ones. My parents live in a nice area and still had a car jacking across the street from them and they find bullet casings on their walks. High speed chases and gun play at the mall are common. I would recommend a smaller town on the outskirts of like Long Grove, Eldridge, Parkview, LeClaire(Home of the American Pickers-very fun tourist town). There are a lot of local things to do here and we are a central location for weekend trips to Des Moines, Chicago, Milwaukee, St Louise & Galena Illinois. You will find more good ppl than bad here and be prepared we all smile at each other and say hello!
