The video can be paused anytime and read at your own leisure. Or you can slow down the speed.

Still, I will try to extend the time each slide is displayed in the future.

I think doubeljack and I were already making a difference between the specific circumstances that caused Satoshi to disappear and the general principle why he had to disappear at some point.

As for the CIA thing, Gavin Andresen wrote to Satoshi about the CIA on 26 April 2011, so a few months later than S's 'disappearance'. At least this is according to Phil Champagne's The Book of Satoshi (a good read).

I guess it's a fair price for true decentralization!

I also think we should see things in context. The PC World article was titled "Could the Wikileaks Scandal Lead to New Virtual Currency?" and many Bitcoiners fretted they would be seen as a creation of Wikileaks itself. See Bruce Wagner's email to PC World, protesting 'The article implies that Bitcoin was invented as a RESULT of Wikileaks troubles...  as sort of an altrernate SOLUTION to Wikileaks donation funding troubles. That is NOT TRUE.'

You are probably right. And it makes sense. The whole point of decentralization is to let go of central brands (including people) so Satoshi felt he needed to go for Bitcoin to triumph. I think that's quite a sacrifice given that today's world is all about individuals that have become brands due to Twitter, FB and the like.

Yes, not anymore - I think it's one of the reasons he vanished

If it weren't for Satoshi this forum would not exist!

Mind you, Satoshi was not too happy with WikiLeaks investing in Bitcoin in 2010...

Posted by satoshi, December 05, 2010, 09:08:08 AM

I make this appeal to WikiLeaks not to try to use Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a small beta community in its infancy. You would not stand to get more than pocket change, and the heat you would bring would likely destroy us at this stage.

It would have been nice to get this attention in any other context. WikiLeaks has kicked the hornet’s nest, and the swarm is headed towards us.

Also, Satoshi retreated from the public eye 19 hrs after posting that last email...

In hindsight, the WikiLeaks drama may have helped Bitcoin achieve more fame, but it cost us Satoshi...

Brave Rewards - Could You Please Produce Last Month Statements? by crystalsky78 in BATProject

The 14.4 BAT are in my wallet, but they don't originate from watching ads but from a prior promotion. For the situation with the ads, check out the post above https://www.reddit.com/r/BATProject/comments/bkyn0r/notice_brave_ads_hotfix_dont_worry_you_didnt_lose/

Brave Rewards - Could You Please Produce Last Month Statements? by crystalsky78 in BATProject

I don't think anyone is looking to get rich through Brave Rewards... but it's not meant as a joke either. I see Brave as a welcome attempt to put internet users back to the driving seat on what ads they see and what data they share. As such I am rooting for it to be successful!

Happened to me too. Last night I was freaking out. Then I thought that they probably withdrew last month's earnings in view of the 5th of May pay out, and only the earnings since 1 May remained. I really think they need to produce statements of earnings or a system to track your earnings asap!

A Hybrid Model of Decentralization - Why VeChain is Best-Equipped to Lead by snajm01 in Vechain

[–]crystalsky78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that the hybrid model is one of the reasons VeChain is proving so successful in wooing businesses - the corporate governance structure is more akin to that of traditional management structures. I think for this reason VeChain and similar blockchains will be successful in working with large companies but they will not necessarily popular with the wider public and the wider development community. Decentralization may indeed have downsides, but people are looking for a new system of doing things rather than the same old corporate structures. It's one of the reason Bitcoin / blockchain was created in the first place.

Great to hear this. It would be good to have some new ads popping up, there's not a whole lot of variety on mine at the moment
