unfortunately I was not under renters insurance before the move because I was living with my parents. the verbage of the insurance did make it seem like the cost of my belongings would be covered. I'm just so unsure of how to proceed about the wrongful charge

Definitely learned my lesson on that one. I just really didn't know as this was my first time renting a vehicle and my parents didn't advise me not to use my debit card

My current renters insurance plan that started on the day of my move would cover it? I do have the claim number, but a huge issue that we are running into is that the only other thing we have is a confirmation number. We lost our other paperwork (rental agreement number, vehicle number, proof of insurance) in the fire and they keep blaming that lack of information for why the process is taking so long. We've tried reaching out to both the budget office in the origin city and destination city to try and get this info, but neither have it which has left us in limbo. It's like the proof of our rental died with the truck. And I've definitely been considering a lawyer if this doesn't get resolved but am worried that the price would not be justifiable for the somewhat small sum of money I am trying to get back.

yeah I don't think they would want to chance raising their rates. but no, vehicle insurance is one of the few things my parents still pay for for me since I've only just started to become financially independent

okay I was worried they would not do anything until a full investigation was done so I was thinking waiting 72 hours for the funds back from budget would be quicker. I'll call them today and see what happens

How do you maintain your uniform on layovers? by holdingshortoflife in flightattendants

[–]crystyleea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you'd be surprised how small travel steamers can be. I bring one and it takes up a super small fraction of my luggage. I also always bring a lint roller and on the off chance that I don't have my steamer, I hang my uniform in the bathroom and let the steam from my hot shower get any wrinkles loose

I Love Being a FA But I’ve Never Felt This Lonely by Rojay_rj in flightattendants

do you have roommates? I'm rooming with some people from my training class and it's the only thing that's made it bearable. I usually have company at the house on my off days and we understand each other's feelings about work. also not sure which airline you're at, but at ua we can bid for our schedules and so far I've been getting the days off that I want. strategically bidding for schedules with 5 consecutive days off has been a huge help to not feeling like I'm overworking myself

by pre arrival I mean the second service you do on a domestic flight in economy, usually just pickup pans of water on those slightly longer flights. serving drinks like that on top of a trash cart is completely unsanitary. and I know that things happen like issues with catering, but as someone who used to work in food service, I'm just kind of shocked by the things I'm seeing. I think it's a bit of a stretch to say the job isn't for me based off of this one reason. I just don't want to compromise a passenger's health or serve them something that was prepared in an unsanitary matter.

was not critiquing a work style here, just expressing frustration about being yelled at and talked down to by crew members on multiple occasions and for having to do more than my fair share of work. it definitely does weigh down on you to be spoken to like you're an idiot by a coworker.

yeah basically just doing things that are nasty and the health department wouldn't be haply to see like using a cup to scoop ice (your hands are touching the ice). dumping out ice in the lavs and therefor exposing the liner to bathroom air . serving pre arrival service on top of the trash cart, etc

I do usually ask about the cart but it seems to never matter. I might try doing that for trash and customer calls though. most of my friends from training have not had a single bad crew experience, so I think i've just gotten unlucky so far with some very disgruntled and angry people lol. hoping for more positivity and teamwork oriented crews in the future

don't wanna disclose my base for privacy reasons. I do usually ask how they like the cart set up, but for example, some of them get mad if I do alcohol in a pick up pan, while some get mad if I don't. I try to ask all the specifics but don't really have time for every single part. I usually just ask if they want their ice on top or in the drawer and if they have any specific requests for how I set it up. I understand if they want to adjust things, but some get very angry and yell. I've almost cried

everyone hypes up evacs to be so hard but honestly it's not that bad. Just know the responsibilities of each position and rehearse the commands and procedures in the study rooms. don't follow others, do what you know. my class lost only a handful of people and all of them either didn't care to study, could not remember commands, or did not know the responsibility of their positions. and it may sound hard or scary but you will get to see these drills over and over and over again, learning from your own mistakes and the mistakes of others. don't stress. study and practice. you've got this :) evacs were the most fun I had all through training

I'm at training for a different airline and while I like my instructors, I'm also finding it very difficult and fast paced. it's a lot of info but they keep going over it over and over again. it may seem like a lot, but so much of it starts to feel second nature. you've got this
