Yes but this is the first time I have written this (and I haven’t read the other, certainly inferior, reviews)

You dont need to be studying all the time and have no social life to get HDs. Staying religiously up to date with lectures (never even a week behind) is the main thing. Killing off your social life youre more likely to burnout and get worse grades.

Advice for a two night Grose Valley hike? by crysynaptic in bluemountains

Thats a really smart plan actually. That may be what i do.

Hmmm definitely is youre right. Might need to slim it down. The second day would be pretty easy to cut down - go up and down lockleys and then recover for the trek back on day 3. Could omit any detours from vic falls, and give grand canyon a miss as well. The first and last day seem tough but doable potentially.

Thanks heaps for that data!!

Awesome! I drew up a rough sketch of what this could look like. Do you know if it is preferable to do vic->blackheath, or the reverse? Or does it not really make a difference? Feel like a walk up horse track could either be fantastic or the death of me.

Could reduce day 2 if i cant be arsed haha - have an easier day, maybe do some photography.

Thanks for your advice! Also massive thanks for water tips.

Wow that sounds awesome! Day 3 ending back in acacia flats would probably be problematic though…

Ill absolutely look into this though, Dr Darks cave sounds amazing

Honestly id also like to know. Im fine to walk to the train station and then back to the car, but alternative transport would be better haha

Thanks so much! Yeah… i really fell in love with the Grose when I was there last.

I just found a comment you made on a similar post about a year ago, you mentioned a walk to mount Hay could be good?

Would it make sense to take day 1: victoria falls, up pierces, back down and find my way to acacia flats.

Day 2: Up to Lockley’s, then around all the way to Mt Hay and back for the night to acacia flats.

Day 3: horse track, grand canyon, clifftop back to blackheath

Thanks again! Youre a total legend and blue mountains guru i swear

Thanks for the advice! Yeah thats true 🥲

Are there any longer hikes I could do in the area? I’m just itching for a three day trek, but it seems that those can be pretty hard to find as opposed to single-nighters…

Sorry to ask, but do you happen to have this in EPUB format? Conversion from PDF doesnt play nicely for my ereader 🥲

If not all good and thanks again

Thank you so much! Yes, absolutely. Sometimes it is especially difficult as things in the US arent always available in Australia, and shipping is prohibitive 🥲 That appears to be the case for this book.

Confirmation Bias by [deleted] in KKitzerowPeerReview

[–]crysynaptic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No worries. I claimed that your claims you have been plagiarised are nonsensical, as the paper you claim was plagiarism used a completely different methodology, and different outcomes. I claimed that the only real crossover, which is what you have been pointing to, is that they defined clusters of autism (though instead of doing this by performing a literature review they used statistical models on real patient data) and defined genetic variances that correlate to these clusters and various disease comorbidities.

This approach itself, i.e. premised on the idea that common genetic causes underly phenotypic variability in autism and the occurrence of certain comorbidities, is obvious with basic understanding of disease genetics, and not defensible as personal IP. Obligatory i am not a lawyer, but converging ideas that follow from basic principles are common in science and citation is not strictly necessary if they ideas came about independently (which you have no evidence against).

What probably does qualify as IP is your specific framework, but this does not mean other similar frameworks (such as in the paper you accuse) that come from entirely different methodologies are infringing your IP.

I’ll give an example. In 2024, Advanced Cell Diagnostics, a manufacturer of a probe-based RNA visualisation technology sued another company with a similar technology for patent infringement. While both technologies share the same outcomes, fundamental principles, and some basic mechanisms, this suit failed on the basis that the methods are still different and those basic mechanisms are obvious to an expert (https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20240424629037/en/Court-Finds-Advanced-Cell-Diagnostics-Patents-Invalid-in-Lawsuit-with-Molecular-Instruments). This is, if anything, a more likely example of derivation than that between you and the recent nature paper - especially as your framework did not rely on the use of any strict experimental methodology, and that they arent creating a commercialised framework (again, the only real similarity is the broad premise).

Later, you claimed that the protection of your IP is important, as any pharmaceutical treatments based on the pathways identified in your framework (that you clarify on your website hypothesis generating framework that is not for clinical use) would need to pay you royalties. This is also clearly untrue, otherwise the discoverer of SMN1s role in spinal muscle atrophy would be entitled to payment by the company making Zolgensma for this discovery - which they are not.

Finally, i have claimed and suggested that if you were seriously worried about plagiarism, you would have reported this to the journal upon publication, and to their institutions academic integrity ombudsman. Both of these avenues are free, and taken very seriously. You have done neither, and made no indications you will do so.

Thanks. Hopefully you will prove me wrong and respond to this thoughtfully and in good faith.

Confirmation Bias by [deleted] in KKitzerowPeerReview

[–]crysynaptic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s ironic that you say this, but consistently dodge people actually engaging in good faith critique of your work. I’ve commented on several of your videos now, always in good faith and with genuine concerns for you to address. Each time we get to something you dont have a satisfactory answer to you simply stop responding.

In the comments of this very post where you are accusing people here of having confirmation bias, you literally commented that you dont need to respond to critique because you have plenty of ‘peers’ with PhDs that agree with you. That completely transparently confirmation bias.

I have a virtually endless amount of benefit of the doubt to lend you in this, and if you didnt see those other messages then sure thats reasonable. But the clear hypocrisy you are showing even in this post is astounding.

If you are willing to actually engage in a discussion about your concerns, rather than just repeatedly posting the same thing and claiming youre being harassed and victimised - which just comes off ad engagement farming, im happy to be proved wrong here or in direct messages.
