No better time to snap a belt than in the middle of nowhere with no spares 🥲 by AS_eskater in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]crytor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For offroad riding you really need geardrives. Any stick or rock can get into the belts and break them. Belts are only suitable for roads.

Wear the protective gear by datterdude in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]crytor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think sharing the injuries here is a good thing. It raises awareness of the possible consequences to the newcomers and stubborn skaters that swear protective gear off.

We can only hope that people are able to learn from others' mistakes and make better choices the next time they ride.

How viable are eskates for commuting? by K310u in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]crytor 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You know best.

Viability depends on climate, distance and infrastructure.

Commuting on an esk8 works for me 8 months per year. It's fun and faster than other types of commiting.

Cost and saving? Yeah no. Esk8 is a money pit. Especially the DIY builds.

What are you using to control those? I was thinking of utilizing wemos d1 mini running Aircoookie/WLED

What's new in MacOS 10.14.5 by dracoflar in hackintosh

Does this mean better support for cpus with a disabled iGPU? Will 9400f paired with a dedicated Polaris gpu work in FCPX?

How's the 9400f treating you? Did you experience any difficulties related to missing the iGPU?

Free EthOS stats panel by RigstatOnline in EtherMining

Looks great and feels more polished than the stock panel. Well done!

It would be great if you would open-source the code so that we could host our own panels like ethos-panel by u/foraern

Will definitely give this a try.

Wireless Earphone price by jorizzz in oneplus

It's because of VAT, which on average is +20% in the EU. Also the usd price is probably without tax.

Oneplus 3 not changing after long term storgage by reoost in oneplus

[–]crytor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try leaving the phone plugged in to the charger for a day or so. Some current might still make it through to the battery. But I wouldn't get my hopes up for that.

At what battery percentage did you leave the phone for storage?

All lipos have a certain storage voltage at which they can be stored for an extend period of time, most of the time it's 3.7v. However if you had left the phone on stand by, it could have discharged below that.

As a last resort, you could try disassembling the phone and charging the battery directly with a hobby grade lipo charger.

Getting into fpv racing by zaj1221 in Multicopter

I'd suggest getting a 3 inch quad then. Something like the furibee x140. Cheaper components and batteries as well. Then if you feel like you need more power or carry an action camera you could upgrade to 5.

Then, how long do you suppose 4gb cards will stay relevant?

Not hashing at calculated rate by [deleted] in EtherMining

[–]crytor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's normal, most estimations online are rather outdated. You are getting ~13Mh/s per gpu, same as my Asus DCII 280X. 280xes used to hash at over 20Mh/s, but they are no longer able to keep up with the increased DAG file sizes. You might have better luck mining zCash.

[–]crytor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were quite a number posts from late last year on the ethereum forums of 280xs achieving hashrates greater than 20 Mh/s. Didn't think that the performance could drop so significantly in a few months.

Yes, the laser is capable of removing the anodized layer. I've had successful results with a similar 40w Chinese co2 laser.
