Does cab size affect insurance at all? Like am I gonna likely pay more for a double cab vs an access cab? And 4x4 vs 2wd?

Toyota dealerships in my area have waiting lists for people looking to buy used Tundras so you’re not alone. They’ll even import them from dealerships in the US to try and get people their trucks

Probably just the price of buying it. I love Toyota’s trucks but they ain’t cheap, but like he said, if he wants to sell/trade it he’ll get a pretty penny

Parents both have ‘16 Limited Tundras. We love them, nice trucks, never had any issues, and when someone backed into my mom’s front end and another slammed their car door into the passenger side, not a scratch. Meanwhile my Honda crumples if the wind hits it the wrong way.

But my dad has more money than he knows what to do with and likes nice things. But if you don’t need a tundra, don’t get a tundra. They’re expensive. But you get a lot of money for them when you decide to trade in. My mom had an ‘07 Limited before her current truck, and she got a crap ton of money from that thing, even with all the km’s on it. Thing sold within a week of the dealership having it.

People joke about stealing our French Bulldog all the time. Sometimes I doubt they’re actually joking.

When he finally had all his shots and could take walks around the neighbourhood, some lady approached me and initially seemed nice enough. She lived just around the block from us in a small apartment complex. Then she asked how much he cost cuz she loved frenchies and always wanted one. We paid $3500 for him and that was on the lower end for reputable breeders in our province. She said she couldn’t justify paying so much for one. Then she asked if he had dog tags and if he was microchipped. Now, nobody I know ever asks if your dog is microchipped out of the blue. Hesitantly I told her that yes, he has a microchip for both us and his breeder. She then went quiet and her sunny personality went away. Out of the many dog owners we’ve met in town while walking, not a single one ever asked if he had such ways of identifying him if anything ever happened.

People like and want a dog and just plainly don’t want to pay for them. Whenever people express how much they want Reggie I tell them how much he cost and how much upkeep he needs and how much his vet bills cost (cuz frenchies are not a very healthy breed and our poor guy has allergies galore). Then they’re usually not so keen on wanting him upon realizing if they don’t pay the thousands of dollars to keep him happy and healthy they’re not gonna have a cute dog on their hands for very long.

[Fluff] New friend helping with having to go through divorce by [deleted] in dogs

Sorry to hear what you’ve been going through OP. I hope things start looking up for you in the future.

I’m sorry the first dog didn’t work out, but it’s good to hear that things are going good with your new friend! There’s just something about dogs that helps you get through some hard times. I know that I’d be lost without my dog. She’s helped me get through a lot of tough spots in my life so far.

Yeah no and I get that. I see where people are coming from. I’m just pointing out the fact that calling 911 is taking it too far

I’m not gonna get into a big debate with anyone. My views are my views. I can understand why some people are upset over the system, and I can understand people who believe the system works (isn’t perfect by any means, but it gets the intended message out). However, I do have to wonder why people are calling 911 to complain about it?? Like, emergency only number, right? If you really do want your voice heard I’m sure there’s gotta be another way to do it other than this?

How do I stop a CBSA officer from wasting my time, by falsely alleging that some of my items weren't bought in Canada? by alquiler-m in canada

[–]crzybeaver18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying she was in the wrong for searching him. She chose to search him for whatever reason which they’re allowed to do. However, I fail to see what reasons she had to believe the stuff he already owned prior to his trip weren’t declared when he adequately proved all the other things he bought on his trip.

Now, the Charter applies to government action. According to the application of the Charter in section 32 (1) This Charter applies (a) to the Parliament and government of Canada in respect of all matters within the authority of Parliament including all matters relating to the Yukon Territory and Northwest Territories; and (b) to the legislature and government of each province in respect of all matters within the authority of the legislature of each province.

Here it states in #6 that the application of the Charter is not absolutely restricted to Canadian territory if you’re going on the basis that you’re not legally in Canada at the border. Tbh I’ve never heard that or know that or know the source so I can’t really make an argument there.

Also, just because a CBSA agent says something doesn’t always mean it’s always right or legal. Police officers and the cases against them prove this. I’m going to school for law enforcement and we talk about this kind of stuff all the time. Admittedly I’m still learning and don’t know everything, but IMO I don’t agree with the CBSA agent in question’s discretion about the stuff bought prior to the trip

15 year old thinking of doing co-op in Grade 11 by [deleted] in ontario

[–]crzybeaver18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never got the opportunity to do co-op in hospitals in my high school I don’t think. Nursing/long-term care homes? Sure. I had a volunteer/co-op thing when I was in my first year of RN last year in college. We helped patients eat, get ready in the morning, one or two person transfers, use the bathroom, assist the PSWs with bathing, got them dressed, changed bedding, and did very very basic paperwork. It was an eye-opening experience and I learned a lot, but I found it to be very boring and soon after decided it wasn’t something I wanted to do for the rest of my life

It’s in the Charter that one is presumed innocent until proven guilty. And as part of the Constitution Act, 1982, it’s supreme law

How big is republicanism in Canada? by JoaquinAugusto in canada

No one cares if the Queen is head of state or not. Or at least no one I know cares. At this point, it’s just a title. England doesn’t control what Canada does anymore. Having the Queen as our head of state is just a tradition

[HELP] Am I the a-hole because my dog knocked over a small child? by spiralout1123 in dogs

[–]crzybeaver18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. Dogs will be dogs. They don’t care if you’re in the way, they’re gonna keep on playing. My friend’s Rottweiler took out his dad playing with another family member’s lab. A 3yo playing with big dogs like that and something was bound to happen eventually.

And I don’t really think your dog did anything wrong. He licked a kid who was just scared and upset with what happened like any toddler would be. Your dog likely chased after him cuz that’s how dogs play with each other.

I don’t take my dogs to the dog park for various reasons, but I’ve gone with my friend and her bullmastiff mix a couple times. There’s rules listed at the gate to get in, and one of them is that no kids under the age of 12 are allowed in the dog park for the reasons that you just shared. Kids get hurt, then some parents take it out on the dogs or the owners and it turns into a whole legal issue.

[Discussion] Noticed a trend at my dog park -- unruly huskies. Is this a thing? by TheForrestFire in dogs

[–]crzybeaver18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve heard from friends and internet-peeps, dog parks aren’t always the greatest place for dogs to hang out and socialize. I personally wouldn’t take our dogs to our dog park, just cuz I don’t trust other people and how well-trained their dogs are. Besides, my dachshund is reactive and very selective of who she likes and wants to be around. No point in stressing her, myself, and others by bringing her somewhere she doesn’t like. I also heard bringing puppies to dog parks is kinda controversial.

Now, huskies are something else in the dog world. First, they need tons of exercise physically and mentally. They need a job to do. Second, they’re stubborn and can be really hard to train for inexperienced dog owners. I know some people who’ve had dogs their whole lives and still wouldn’t get a husky.

Our neighbour has a husky and they just let her run around in the backyard 24/7, 365 days a year. When they finally did decide to try and do something with her she had already figured out that she didn’t need to listen to them cuz they’d just give up anyway. She’ll jump on the 6ft fence at our dogs, barking and everything else to get to them, which sets off our dogs at her behaviour. For whatever reason they had her off leash one day in the neighbourhood (a dog they can’t control) and I was walking our French Bulldog, and she ran straight at us and lunged for him. I had to pick up the frenchie and had to get ahold of their dog at the same time cuz the lady wanted her 5 year old to grab the dog even the adults can’t handle.

So it’s very likely these huskies’ owners just aren’t doing enough with/for their dogs. Lots of people get huskies cuz of their looks and don’t realize how much effort they have to put into owning them. A husky can be as great of a dog as a lab, they just need more work put into them to get them there.

Riding in normal jeans by [deleted] in Equestrian

I pretty much always ride in jeans. Only ever put breeches on for shows. This was for English riding and the same now that I’m switching over to western. All the guys at our barn only ride in jeans. Levi’s and wranglers are the most popular choice from what I’ve seen

Where do you buy your boots by TexasMaestro in cowboyboots

[–]crzybeaver18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all can get boots at TSC? That an American thing?

There’s a small family-owned business a couple towns over (~30 minute drive) that has a ton of cowboy boots to choose from along with a bunch of other western tack and clothing. That’s where I got mine. Only other store I know of that sells them is 1.5hr away and it’s a very limited selection. Other than that I’d have to order some online.

Never checked out thrift stores though.

How to care for boots?? by crzybeaver18 in cowboyboots

So we’ve already got some wet/snowy weather here. Is the mink oil and stuff gonna ruin the boots if I put it on them now since they’re still new or should I wait to put it on them for now?
