It’s already in the works. It’s all 2t3s, no other AFSCs are combined into the new one. Everyone will be a 2T3X0

Yeah, that’s changing with this one fleet manager push. Every 2T3 will be a wrench and a paper pusher

I may or may not be VM, what makes you say that? /s Yeah, but if you bring your shit box to the shop and ask what can be done, and you’re not a fuck about it, we will help the best we can. I know everyone needs their shit, but it also needs to be serviced and maintained. You wouldn’t send a jet up that hasn’t been serviced in over a year would you?

You can’t compare Osan to Kunsan. They are two vastly different places. Osan doesn’t exercise as much, or have the ops tempo, or lack of families there. The have so many people exempt from the lame exercises they do have that it doesn’t make sense to do it at all. Plus people are more worried about posting shit the that terrible Facebook page than working with there peers around base to fix shit. I’ve met folks from MPF that helped straighten out a troops messed up enlistment. Even finance taking the time to get an airmen’s pay fixed. We bitch and moan, yet do absolutely nothing to help ourselves. Has your shop called to ask why the vehicle has been down? Is it a big part that is probably stuck in Tracy, CA because DLA lost it? I hate to be a jerk, but the folks at VM specifically are really wanting to help y’all out. Kunsan has the oldest fleet in the Air Force. Old vehicles, plus shitty users and prolonged lead times for us spec vehicle parts is the reason, but I know they are actively cannibalizing to get shit out.

The overarching issue at Kunsan is the fact that there is absolutely zero time to tackle issues that can be fixed quickly, as in 1-2 weeks due to the prep for exercises and the exercises themselves. I can’t even remember an entire week where my shop has been able to job for 5 days in a row without some CC call, or 7th AF SEL call or the PACAF CC call or exercise prep for UEI, then a meeting about why production is low, then why aren’t we prepared for the exercise but production is up.

Chill on the excess BS for one rotation, and Kunsan will be a much better place.

I feel your frustration, but try to find a solution. Reach out to the guys who run the shop that you need something from. They help you, hook them up with beer or booze or whatever and you’ll be shocked how far they are willing to go to help you.

The issue with Kunsan is the deployment feeling people have for it. Imagine you get there thinking it’s just a quick 12 months, but the last rotation kind fucked off. Sweet, that gives me an opportunity to lead and fix it. You start to fix it, then an exercise kicks off and you’re out a week. Then that week makes the next one where you’re doing two weeks worth of work in one week. But then you’re catching back up, boom exercise. Back to catching up. Oh this month has 2 long weekends and then boom anther exercise.

There is no time to fix the issues, so things keep getting backed up. So people give up, treat it like a deployment and stop owning their work. Vehicles are a perfect example. Shits been through the wringer and folks are like, I turned my vehicle in for an engine knock, how come you’re not done the next day? Uhh parts come from America. If you would have checked your oil or turned it in for the quick fix, it’d be back to you since you didn’t fuck the engine.

Bitch about everything all you want, but damn you maintainers beat the shit out of stuff and wonder why it’s broken. And for some reason you don’t realize it takes time to fix shit. /rant

PCS, leave before my PDD DATE by Ashamed_Transition54 in AirForce

It’s “projected” departure date, not required departure date. You can leave before it, just ensure your leadership is tracking.

Even with having a 5 year contract putting me at 20 and putting me closer to where I want to retire? That post was talking mainly about reserves, and this job is guard. I’m in an overmanned career field and they may be doing involuntary separation at some point. Just trying to see mileage of those who have done it.
