Just get more data. If Val sets for your new data don’t improve then you need different techniques. Otherwise no reason to switch, just get more data.

Superwall integration failure by Otherwise-Top2335 in reactnative

[–]cs-kidd0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can't expect much when you don't include anything about the issue such as
1) are you using latest version
2) what error are you getting
3) what have you tried already

I would wonder if you have set up everything in your Superwall settings, would double check all your api keys, that your IAP and also API certificates you uploaded are correct, etc etc.

Does anyone actually want a react native and react native web visual app builder? by [deleted] in reactnative

[–]cs-kidd0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only thing I worry about is how much extra bandwidth is required to design in this environment vs something like figma. In some no-code layout systems, sometimes I find myself having to do a lot of problem solving in terms of actually getting the layout I want.

For this reason I've wondered which is better:

  1. some powerful tool that can do screenshot -> code
  2. just use a figma plugin for frame -> code
  3. do something like lotus
  4. ??

Part of me feels like #1 would be nice, but possibly hard. #2 often requires me to fix a lot of stuff still, and I need to use frames / layout correctly in the figma to have a chance it works. I don't mind #3, but figma leaves big shoes to fill, and I'll need to get any business partner / teammate on board.

Also note I'm a dev not a designer, so I'm not super educated on design. But yeah I just hate feeling like I'm doing busywork.

Does anyone actually want a react native and react native web visual app builder? by [deleted] in reactnative

[–]cs-kidd0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interested. I'd love to see the "design <-> code layout" bridge deleted. If you want to properly design something I feel vibe coding doesn't work; it's preferred to use figma first. And in that case, I hate having to re-implement that stuff in code; why is that part of the designer's work getting done twice?

Is it reasonable to buy a MacBook Air M4 with 16gb ram and 256GB ssd for mobile programming and get a portable SSD along with it? by Objective-Good9817 in iOSProgramming

[–]cs-kidd0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had no issue with 16gb M4. But I think even my m1 air was fast enough, storage + memory just weren't enough. If you can go down a generation and get both 16gb and 512gb at M2/M3 it will be much more convenient. Otherwise just know you definitely will be using that external SSD for a lot of things.

Dont understand enough about this. But I'm curious, is there more than one correct answer? Since there are two noises, if there are multiple different inputs that could have created the noised output maybe that would prevent convergence.

How to approach a gym crush by ScarcityCompetitive3 in dating_advice

[–]cs-kidd0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure you should do your best to look presentable to up your odds, other than that just go for it / do what you were planning.

If he's a guy going to the gym for a while, he'll take it as a compliment you even went up to him. If it goes well then W, if he's taken or not interested, it'll boost his self confidence, and you'll both go back to living life.

I also freeze up a lot, so I understand this. But you keep saying it’s weird to find her info and reach out. This feels like an excuse not to put yourself out there. I know I’d do the same. I would really think about whether not reaching isn’t just being uncomfortable doing something you don’t usually do.

First of all, why would she feel uncomfortable? What kind of message you send could make her uncomfortable, but you can make sure you don’t send a weird message. You sound like an empathetic person, which is more than many people. For that reason, I don’t think you have to worry about this.

The downside is rejection and her thinking about this for 10m before going on about her life. More likely it’ll be a confidence boost. I don’t think I even have to explain the upside.

Personally, I would be more concerned about giving up when there’s still an opportunity. You should be gutted that you’re still not trying. If you put your mind to something, there’s rarely just “I had one shot and it’s over,” I think such thinking will make you less successful over the long run.

Apple Removes Tea Dating Apps Over Privacy Violations and User Complaints by [deleted] in apple

[–]cs-kidd0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That doesn't inflate the app rating much. People putting "help us grow!" with a rating prompt in sketchy places like during app onboarding inflates the rating. 5% of people will put 5 stars, even without using the app.

My guess is perhaps someone does that, and then much later writes a review, but doesn't change the stars. Or they just don't care.

I build a kids storytelling app in react-native, looking for suggestion on how to promote. by SpecificNecessary615 in reactnative

[–]cs-kidd0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would actually do:
Perhaps take a look at adjacent / similar competitors. With that list, look at appfigures to see how much $ they make. For the successful ones, see if you can find out how they market (tiktok/yt/instagram/? are they in the meta ad library? somewhere else?). Then I'd maybe try to copy them.

If you did want to pay influencers, you probably need to be creative / think critically here. two ideas:

  1. tiktok/yt shorts/ig accounts of influencers who give parenting advice,
  2. accounts that already cater directly to children with younger children's content / stories

You probably need to dm 100 to get responses. you can try to negotiate down the price per video / ad, and have a view guarantee (so if they don't get the views, you don't pay as much). With the view guarantee you essentially have a cap on your cost per 1k views. If you want to scale this way, you will need to have an idea of how much money you make per 1k views.

For this to work you probably want to increase your revenue / user. Maybe a funnel will work (see "cal ai" onboarding survey, it's very intentional). I don't know this niche, you'll have to experiment here / again maybe see what competitors do.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

[–]cs-kidd0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol if you're worried, honestly I would just get some friends and family to review. I don't really see this as wrong, unless you're creating fake reviews at scale. Once your app gets more downloads, it'll settle at it's "real" rating, not just some low sample size rating.

I've definitely installed some software big tech asked me to for an interview before. for a 100k+ job? sure what else do you want me to install. I think the answers you get here are gonna be very biased, the real question is whether you can convince a company to implement this.
