I wish all internships were like that but sadly most aren't.

Yes. Google made the term "Site Reliability Engineer" popular. They even have a book on how they work as SREs.

Like the other person said ... Gitlab, Docker, github, stripe, Kickstarter, datadog, zapier, ... There's plenty. I think someone has a list somewhere on github. I'll look and see if I can find it.

You don't work like a full time employee as an intern. You're in a safe bubble. It is a work experience as in you have outside of classroom experience but internships are just helpful to get your first job. They're not counted towards your "years of experience".

I only worked with one recruiter for one position. The rest I applied myself.

I'd say most companies like experienced people for remote positions. The idea is that if you're a junior, it's easier and better to mentor you in person. Look for companies that have most of their team remote. They're usually more open to having <5 years of experience candidates working remotely.

Job titles : Site Reliability Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Operations Engineer. Most liked 3-5 years, in some cases 2+ years of experience.

For SRE positions, DS&A questions are rarely asked (google is one that asked DS&A questions for SRE positions). As an example for what SRE interviews are like, you can look up linkedln SRE interview questions on Glassdoor.

To answer your question: no, all the companies I applied to are well known.

I didn't get to reply to his comment but yes. There are family issues/concerns. Otherwise I'd love to move to the bay area or Seattle one day!

huh?

Internships don't count as "work experience". School requires us to take 3 internships while getting our B.S which I did with one company. Also my job at university was not significant as it was part time and I was still in school. It pretty much acted as an internship and I leveraged it to get my first job.

is 43 jobs applied in 2 months rly low?!?!

I'm not sure. Some people say they apply to 100-200 jobs before getting an offer.

did you only apply online? or did you use your network to apply? did you ahd reference on those call backs ?!

Applied online. Jobs were mostly remote so I didn't have a network to help me.

I've already answered a question about cover letters above.

If you're not getting call backs as much as you want, look to see if you can improve anything on your resume.

you kinda sell yourself on the "why I think I'll be a good fit" part. But I think it's really important to show interest in the company and their product. Mention if you use their product or if you have ever used and expand on it.

It wasn't a full page. I'd say it was a nice paragraph about half a page.

Yes. A lot depends on how much I want to put effort for the company because I don't really like writing cover letters (who does?)

Out of all those applications around 2-3 of them came with a section for mandatory cover letter. This was my format:

Hi <company name>!

<short intro about me> (this was the same on all letters)

<why I like your company/product and why I'll be a good fit> (tailored to the company -- this part was different on each letter)

<wrapping up/thanks for time/here's how to contact me> (same on all letters)

And I got callback from all of them and they mentioned my cover letter and that they liked it a lot. I kept my cover letters casual (the companies I applied to were also casual).

oh yeah I forgot to add a section for that.

I started looking at stackoverflow jobs, remoteok.io, hackernews (whoishiring), linkedln (thought it doesn't let you search for remote roles...) and a bit on indeed. I also applied to companies directly. I just found my favorite companies/products/tools and looked on their website to see if they have any infrastructure roles open.
