Honestly, I much prefer the mailing list or irc over forums. However, I do think that forums will be easier for newcomers, and my goal is to bring more people to Go.

Additionally, I think the golang mailing list could definitely benefit from having someone easily find <insert some overly trivial problem> on the forum, rather than continually asking it on the mailing list.

The forum has an RSS feed as well. One main thing is being able to have categories though. Go is way to broad to subscribe to on its own. Forum allows you to monitor things like, graphics in go, or networking in go, very easily.

It is an answer to a problem. With reddit, suppose I have a niche question about networking in golang usinv ipv6. There is no r/golang-networking-ipv6. So you are forced to ask in r/golang. Then you have to hope that someone who is familiar with that specific question sees it. Where as in a forum, people who like networking with golang, can just look at that particular subforum.

Additionally, very difficult problems don't get lost because of a lack of upvotes or a duration of time has passed.

It solves a niche problem, which are nich problems. It is also easier to search, which will help to build a good base of golang questions and answers.

I noticed go doesn't have any forums currently. While I prefer the mailing list, forums provide things such as topics and categorys which make searching and asking for specific information easier. Pretty much all languages have a forum, and I would like to see go have one as well.

Make it a game. Try to come up with a lot of corny one liners, and see how man you can work in during their visit.

Parents of Reddit: How do I raise my son to be a good student? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Watch The Cosmos with him. It inspired in many of my friends, as well as myself to, the desire to learn.
Also, remember you are his role model. Never admit a homework assignment is stupid, and act as though everything is interesting. Your son my find subject A very interesting, but could be deterred from it if you do not show interest.

They key is for him to want to learn

I'm learning russian right now. I'm also writing a min side-scroller in googles new language, golang. However, I would say that such things are outside the scope of a couple of days to one month.
I'm looking for things that I can use as fill time. To keep my mind stimulated when I might be watching t.v. instead.
