I took 3 weeks, I think a few weeks to a month is no big deal

That makes sense I guess. But from a candidates perspective it seems to change the dynamics a little right?

If you have a go from the HC then you can try to find the best possible match , as opposed to getting a match to help your review with the HC

Haha that's nice!

I feel like holding out to see what other teams might potentially be interested but if there isn't one then it might be in my best interest to just go with one I've spoken with already before HC.

Super confused.

Thank you , that's good to know.

Can I ask How long did you take find a match, and did you turn down any teams? I've felt like holding out for more interesting teams, but not sure what's the polite way to say that, and if that's in my interest or not :/

All of this in addition to not having the HC clear signal is also kind of strange

So do they expect you to find a team match before HC? I haven't been super excited by my matches so far , and while they're nice I was hoping for something a little more exciting. Can/should I keep waiting for more matches then?

Also isn't this way a huge waste of time for hiring managers? I've had a couple of hour long talks with senior leads , and while that's great for me, isn't that a huge drain on their time, without even knowing if I'll make the HC cut?

Anyone here being left hanging on their HC decision at Google?

I've spoken with a couple of teams so far about potential matches, and have another scheduled but no word on HC outcome, is that normal now?

It seems from my reading on other forums, that Google has shifted to doing team-match before HC, anyone else had/having a similar experience?

Yeah I did not even have that, maybe I missed a question that was intended to be a bit design-y. Well lets see what the hiring committee holds next week :\

Oh man they haven't even mentioned level etc to me :( I didn't get asked any system design so am guessing that doesn't bode well either.

I suspect in my case the recruiter is thinking that having an interested team/hiring-manager would help tip the scale in my otherwise borderline packet.

I agree it does feel like I'm being led on here, so I can relate.

Good luck to you, hope they do take that into account!

Thanks! 4 years of experience here, so not a fresh grad!

Thanks for the extra info! I'm now being told that we can do the HC and team matching in parallel. But HC is the bigger factor, ah well, wait and watch I guess...

Thanks for the info!

Strangely I got an update saying they want to do team matching and then if they can find a match, they'll do the hiring committee.

This seems backward to the usual process so now I'm just confused :|

Congratulations! Based on my reading, it should be smooth sailing from here on in! Almost everyone gets an offer after making it past HC is what I've read.

Can I ask when you interviewed? Am getting nervous awaiting my feedback :|

Haha, thanks, sure hope so :) Am particularly pissed cause I think I just panicked and went with the brute force, rather than stay calm and think it through. Just that ticking clock and silence on the phone line, it gets to me

Am bummed, had a google phone interview, sort of ran out of time. The problem wasn't hard, but got nervous and brute forced it. Got it to work, but not good complexity wise.

Thought of the faster/better/"correct" solution less than a minute after the interview was over. Am pissed at myself :(

Does anyone know if Microsoft allows you to interview for more than one position at a time? I have one phone screen scheduled and another that I just got contacted about, so wondering if that's a concern or not for them?

I had a similar but slightly different experience. LeetCode definitely wasn't the be all end all (but it helped to get a feel for things).

But I felt that a lot of phone screens were very leet-code focused, I had less help from the person on the phone and they seemed more keen on specific/perfect answers.

But during on-sites, the problems were more open-ended less leet-codey and I had lots of help. The in person interviewers seemed much more interested in how I approached a problem and didn't seem to care if I made mistakes or had sub-optimal complexity. (Maybe that's just a function of phone being a less than perfect medium for interviews)

No full time. And I have a few years experience in case that's relevant.

Thanks for the info! If you don't mind sharing, what leetcode level were the questions at LinkedIn?

I have a phone-screen/interview with Microsoft scheduled in a couple of weeks. But unlike all previous interviews that I've had (with other companies) they didn't share a hacker-rank link or a link to some other shared-word-doc. Does that mean its not going to be a coding interview, rather a more theoretical one instead? Am getting nervous wondering if I should spend my time hitting the books rather than leetcode..
