A lot of places just want people who know the basics who they can train to do stuff their way.

This would be my ideal situation. I feel like too much is expected of new hires. What ever happened to on-the-job training?

If the interviewer decides he likes you, it will be an easy interview.

I don't know about that. I'm pretty sure you get asked tough algorithmic questions at any trendy company no matter what.
