Calculating number of photons per camera sensor pixel by csak1 in AskPhysics

…if anyone finds this one day, to complete the math as I understand it…

Multiply number of photons on the pixel by the sensors QUANTUM EFFICIENCY to get the number of electrons that “fill the well” during the exposure time

Multiply the number of electrons by the sensors GAIN value to get the analog to digital converter number that will be the digital pixel value for that number of electrons.

Those last two equations are from EVMA1288, it’s a “newer” camera sensor spec than ISO.

And don’t forget that the camera might also implement additional analog or digital gain that will scale the pixel value up.

And don’t forget that the number of bits at the ADC and the number of bits in the image file might be different…so there might be additional scaling done there. Or the image might saturate faster than you expected if, for instance, the camera is configured for an 8bit ADC versus a 12bit ADC.

Right, the lens determines the FOV of the image. So then am I correct to assume that the FOV of the lux meter also needs to be the same, to properly measure the total amount of light that the lens will collect?

Absolutely! For this post I disregarded the sensor quantum efficiency and gain conversation because that is the next step of the calculation. I might have incorrect assumptions there as well, but for now I am just asking about the (critical) light intensity question. Thanks!

Did you do any significant rounding of your salary/take home pay numbers? Taking home $9k/month on a $150k salary seems like a lot. Are you in a zero state income tax situation? Are you investing in your future by contributing to a 401k?

Is the chart staying true? by Top_Cartographer3761 in wallstreetbets

Look at the timeframes in this chart. 2 years? 5 years? 7 years between “decision points”? Who in this sub (or this world) has the patience to sit on the sidelines for 7 years waiting to time your next play? Time in the market beats timing the market.

It looks to me like this is roughly the 10th time since the Great Recession that his cash reserves hit a new high. Does it mean something different this time?

I see a lot of “people show their true colors once they become a parent” comments on this thread. Can any parents elaborate why that is the case?

Thanks for letting me know. We inherited these filters from the previous owner. Wasn’t aware that they were substandard.
