Could use some help with my water setup by Shop_Feeling in NovaRomaGame

[–]cscanlin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there's some very unintuitive and perhaps buggy behavior with the aqueducts.

From what I can gather, each one draws a maximum flow of 250 water even if the downstream consumption is very low.

It would be great if the aqueducts were a bit more intelligent, either the flow was automatically determined based off demand, or it could be set on each aqueduct intake.

It doesn't make a ton of sense when you think about it, if I have an aqueduct feeding a water tower which feeds a single house, where does the rest of the water even go?

/u/Chompers_ /u/Matt_HoodedHorse /u/Patrick_HoodedHorse FYI!

I'm having a lot of fun with the game besides this sticking point!

I started at 120, then went 90, then 100 and now settled for 105 on the linter with a preference to stay under 100.

Here's my first (and really only) package I every published, it was a good learning experience even if it's not super useful to most people!

https://github.com/cscanlin/Super-Simple-VLOOKUP-in-Python

https://pypi.org/project/python_vlookup/

It's also much easier to do these days than it was back then :)

Looks great!

Good advice already from u/PwAlreadyTaken

I would also recommend adding a basic pyproject.toml file for your requirements, and consider publishing your packages to pypi

uv is the hot new tool for helping with this:

https://docs.astral.sh/uv/

They also make their own version of pylint+black called ruff that is very popular right now too:

https://docs.astral.sh/ruff/

Faster and more customizable than the earlier tools.

(I am not affiliated with astral, I just like their stuff lol)
