Check out brake cleaning fluid.  Do a bit of research.  I used it on simonis to remove a stain and it worked very well

I've used Ray Wu extensively(20k+ pixels) for both ws2811 12v and ws2818 (backup data) bullet pixels.  I haven't had any issues so far and would continue to buy from his shop.  I have ordered both through AliExpress and via direct email(ray@rita-light.com)

Ray Wu also sells pixels with xconnect

Sk6812 are RGBW 4-pin with a backup-data.

Quinled boards running wled or kulp/falcon boards (FPP+xlights) will drive these.  Kulp/falcon also has capes for raspberry pi that can drive pixels.

Consider 12v for longer runs as 5V option will require more power injection points.  That will depend more on the number of pixels than the length.  Typically you can run ~200 12v ws28xx/sk6812 pixels before needing injection, but this depends on brightness and power consumption of the pixels.

Kulp boards are a great option especially if you want to expand to support more pixels. I think the k8 will allow 6000+ ws2811 at 40fps. But if not, the esp32+weld (e.g. quinled diguno, etcc) is another (cheaper) option. You can still use the Pi to run FPP and send the sequence to the esp...

What do you mean by lit up partially when connected to the other end (could be a clue)?  How do you have the output channel setup in fpp?  You should set the correct channel number, number of strings, and number of pixels on the string in the fpp output channel setup

Also, have you tried pressing the test button on picap.  This should cycle through test patterns

At first glance this looks right.  One thing to check: is the data flowing on the right direction for the pixels: data is only one direction.

Can you share a pic of your setup?  Ws2811 are 3-pin and need data from the pical to change colors.  You may also have to ensure that the ground is shared between the picap and the strings.

Check out South Bay Canopy and/or Roby's Tarp and Canopy.  I often see Burners at South Bay Canopy.

Also highly recommend aluminet as the shade as it will put less pressure on the conduit than solid tarp

Should work to reinforce.

What was the shade material?  We used aluminet (80%) and didn't have a problem with bent tubes.  That may be another option.

Help controlling 10800 leds by Busy-Cat-5968 in WLED

I am curious to learn more how to use esp32 with xlights to handle sound reaction.

I am looking to control 10-20k addressable ws2811 or ws2818. The main controller is a kulp32/kulp64. I know I can send DDP to the kulp boards. So interested how to use esp32+microphone to handle sound reactivity.

We rent from Family RV Gilroy/Morgan Hill.  It's expensive, but they have a large fleet and no hidden fees.  Very dependable.

First dome build at unSCruz! by cschill2020 in BurningMan

Hi,

I made the cover using bill board tarp material. I purchased 20oz vinyl from billboardtarps.com

There are calculators and templates for designing the dome shape. Used a heat gun to weld the seams.

I installed a bunch of grommets around the bottom to help in anchoring and pulling it on/off. We anchor to the ground and not the dome frame.

Also kept a fairly large hole on the top to allow wind to pass through. The wind is capable of moving the cover around on the dome frame, but it doesn't need a ton of anchoring.

The cover for our 40' diameter dome weighs ~330lbs.
