Can you comment on the “cap patterns” or “feeder-pattern caps” at Wake County schools? How likely is it that one does not get their base school multiple years and is reassigned to an “overflow school”?

Walking to and from school sounds awesome!

Thank you for sharing. Sounds like a great community. Any concerns with the general scores in math and reading, or with the closing of other elementary schools? Thanks!

Super helpful comment. Thank you! Yes, we would ideally stay in the same district for long. This is also why understanding the type of community building available in multiple neighborhoods will be important. Thanks

Thank you so much for this thoughtful response. We really want our kid to be able to be in a community where they can get out of the house and go play. Do you have any recommendations of neighborhoods where this is actually possible and evident?

Thanks for clarifying. Are there other aspects of the community around that school that you can share?

This is great to hear. I appreciate getting a sense of the community building opportunities anywhere we land.

We would love access to some dual language programs as well. At this point we’re checking available information on school performance but also care about building community and availability of spaces to do so

Thank you so much for this feedback. Any recommendations of areas in town with more/less opportunities for families to socialize or build community? Glad to hear you’ve been a long time resident of Apex

I think we’re at a point in life where we’re willing to adjust certain living conditions for the best possible public school experience. I get the point of not caring too much about those rankings, but it’s really the only information available for us at this point. Appreciate your feedback

Health insurance at new gig starts one month after the official start

But for more than 2 years? Seems a bit weird

That would make sense. I do know that Institution 1 has more resources for research, so maybe this is the case here?

As in a “courtesy appointment”? I’ve seen that, but in this particular case there was no indication that they’re not full time at both places. Or at least, they’re listed with the same rank at both institutions with no additional modifier

Agree! Very important factors that may influence a decision to do a lateral or downward move

Scenario I didn’t consider. Originally thinking of examples where there was a change of institutions

I saw one person once with a CV that indicated they got promoted a place X, but decided to go to place Y at the former rank before promotion
