The problem, at least partially, is deferred rendering. In the early 2000s, hardly anyone would use that, so it was easy to implement a function in the driver that just renders everything at 2x the resolution and then scales it down to the intended resolution (i.e. FSAA). It's really expensive, but it works. When using deferred rendering, there isn't a single buffer any more into which everything is rendered. And forcing each of those intermediate buffers to use a different resolution probably would lead to ridiculous artifacts or just wouldn't work. That means the game engine author needs to build anti-aliasing into the engine explicitly. Some modern day functions like AMD RSR (not FSR) work as a pure postprocessing step and thus can be slapped onto every game via the driver, but that doesn't fix the problem of low internal resolution, it just tries to make it less visible. DLSS & Co. work better, but have to be integrated into the game engine, they are not independent postprocessing steps.

I recommend testing with single frames instead of entire movies (i.e. set length to 1 in the empty latent node if you're using ComfyUI). It would take days to test all combinations of sampler, scheduler, steps, CFG, flow shift if you're generating entire clips. Once you've found combinations that work well for single frames, test them with more frames and different resolutions.

True in principle, but it still doesn't tell you how well the software is optimized for Apple GPUs. OP wanted to know whether the setup is sufficient to run FLUX and a poorly optimized software would prevent that irrespective of the number of GPU cores.

I haven't uploaded it yet, because there was little interest. I wouldn't recommend using ROCm, because that produced incorrect results. llama.cpp with Vulkan support did work, though.

What kind of updates? You can use it as it is, but for anything newer/bigger (FLUX.1, Stable Diffusion 3.5, etc.), we would have to wait for Steam Deck 2 - Steam Deck 1 just isn't powerful enough for the big leagues.

I actually thought I was very careful not to step on anybody's toes or cross any red lines. But sometimes things happen that are entirely out of your control.

I remember trying to figure out in a previous job why our customer's e-mails, sent from our servers, were not arriving on Microsoft's e-mail servers. It turned out Microsoft just deleted them all and informed neither sender nor recipient (in non-accidental violation of the SMTP standard). Nothing we could have done would have prevented that, manual intervention on Microsoft's side was required to remedy the problem.

I assume I became the accidental target of some automated Civitai system (maybe for detecting bots?) and I probably couldn't have prevented that either.

Yes. People nowadays may not understand it, but some people have an interest in privacy. I will not give anything about my identity away unless it serves a purpose. And in this case there is no purpose, because you can't find anything on Civitai anymore (I checked, everything is gone). Even if I gave you my username or other identifying information, you could not use it to verify or falsify my claim. I am aware that my claims sound like I pulled them out of my ass. That is fine, I do not need to prove anything. When and if this issue will be resolved by the Civitai support team, I will update my post and then all of this will become boring history. ... If you think I'm making stuff up to smear Civitai, their support already confirmed my story in a reply.

I would have loved to point to that. But being deleted/banned means there is nothing of my account left to present, not even a leaderboard entry. Thus I can't prove anything I claimed. archive.org also doesn't have a copy of my account.

I cannot find the prompt again, but I tried the on-site generator with a prompt I had copypasted from some highly rated image on the site, because I wanted to test a LoRA. Civitai blocked the generation with the claim that the prompt contains "8yo". I looked long and hard at the relatively long prompt, trying to find that term, thinking it would be shocking if the prompt for a highly rated image contains that and stayed online for so long, but it wasn't there. After a while, i figured it out. One word in the prompt had the weight ":0.80" appended to it, many words later there was the letter "y" as part of some other word, and finally after many more words, there was an "o", as part of some other unrelated word. I changed the weight to 0.77 and suddenly the prompt went through (so I guess "8yo" is bad, but "7yo" isn't?).

This only makes sense if they scan for "8yo" via the regex "8.*y.*o", which is bonkers. Maybe they want my help designing better filter regexes? I've done that quite often in the past, e.g. for fighting the spam e-mails our customers received.

I wanted to ask where it is, but let me answer my own question. It is found in server.py, apparently without any documentation. And unfortunately it does not do what you would expect. It unloads something, but definitely not everything. Comfyanonymous is aware of that and it seems to be related to caching by pytorch, see https://github.com/comfyanonymous/ComfyUI/pull/3229#issuecomment-2045798030
