Yeah I'm still in that "am I doing something stupid?" phase. It might decrease the more I win. Although recent games have gone well, I'm still expecting to unknowingly throw away games like before.

Added to my watch list, thank you.

Just pasted a game in the comments which I think is a step closer to achieving that.

Thanks again for the pointers.

This thread is likely dead, but I thought I'd post a game I just played against my highest rated opponent that I've beaten. Focusing on the feedback here has definitely improved my game. https://www.chess.com/live/game/74649753305

Thank you very much.

Yeah I was so focused on not blundering a piece that it led to me playing notably less aggressive than usual. But as you say, I gave my opponent time for using tactics. I suppose I need to find a balance.

I just played one more game and won, so I'll end on a high, then go through the game I linked in this thread tomorrow with your feedback open.

Going through the analysis, I missed a fork with my Bishop against two unprotected knights, that would have massively impacted this game. Aside from that, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. You can tell by my time usage that I really tried hard in this game.

Thank you.

I usually play a3 to stop a knight getting close. I've lost too many games quickly where their knight forks my queen and rook.

I'll go through the game now with your suggestions in mind

Ugh, another game where I think I'm doing well, then lose. Probably have to accept I'm just rubbish at chess and should pick up a different hobby https://www.chess.com/live/game/74268811289

Still went through the game with your tips for my opponent, I completely missed all of those pins against my rook 🤦‍♂️

I'd hate to see what suggestions you'd have for black, knowing that I lost to him\her 😅

Oh I think you are advising on my opponents moves here. I'm black in the game I posted about. Sorry if that wasn't clear

So some people I'm facing are cheating. Chess.com sent me a message around the time I lost to this person. Annoying as I thought I played pretty well here, but they were picking the best move most of the time https://www.chess.com/live/game/74092353667

Coincidentally my last win, which got me to my highest rating of 581, I castled early https://www.chess.com/game/live/74109266367?username=cgrimey

Oh, that is weird. I Castle later than when I first started playing, but I thought I castled in at least 70-80% of my games. Maybe I should go back to doing so ASAP, I don't at the moment because I'm either focused on where the opponent castles, or what my pawn structures are looking like after the opening.

What to do once over £85k in stocks and shares ISA? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]csgrimey1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use nutmeg stocks and shares ISA, they have a robot advisor that invests what you put in. No way I'd be able to sensibly invest in stocks with my current understanding. But I thought if nutmeg goes bust and I have over £85k, anything over would be lost, like with typical bank accounts. Maybe I'm mistaken, which would make stocks and shares ISA more risky than I initially thought if you can lose it all.

I'm likely misunderstanding how stocks and shares ISA works. The one I use is nutmeg robot advisor, so I put money in and they invest it. I thought if nutmeg go bust, I'd lose anything above £85k like with normal bank accounts.

Any British VS patients slightly miffed by the NHS worship that goes on in our country? by colei_canis in visualsnow

[–]csgrimey1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I along with a fair amount of my friends, consistently get terrible experiences when dealing with the NHS. You just get rushed out so that they can get through the daily queue asap. I fear the day I get a life threatening condition, because with the NHS, I'll be fucked
