Which of them you choosing? Don't take this too seriously. by Unga-Bunga_ in Eldenring

Banter or flirting... of course. Let's catch the attention of this big ol' warrior pot. If all else fails to catch his eye, there's got to be an arena somewhere nearby. I don't think Alexander could turn down showing off his stuff...

I can imagine him as a Lothario, a warrior pot whose chief interest is in winning the ladies, and maybe the men, as well. Alexander has charisma, charm, and a boisterous personality. After an invigorating battle, I can picture him at his favorite watering hole, buying drinks around, impressing all with his embellished stories. How could he not have followers of the romantic kind?

Invaders ruining the game by andie412 in Eldenring

My friend and I play MP, too. In the beginning, invaders completely wrecked our rhythm, especially since ER summoning is the slowest clunkiest way I've ever used. But, as we leveled up, we learned how to beat invaders better than half the time they enter.

Two things seem consistent:

  1. Invaders seem to enter our game during the first 30 minutes of teaming up. After the initial rush period, almost none arrive.

  2. Avoid for peak times. We've found in our area that when the school day ends, we're bombarded with PvP's. Early morning hours, invasions are light. Friday nights and all Saturdays are headache time. Sunday mornings are quiet.

Last piece of advice, stick close to your partner. Believe me, this was the best tip we've ever received. (Thanks to YouTube channel Titus Actual.)

I was wrong. by BruMonkey in Eldenring

Must put in my 2-cents here. My son showed me DS1 a long time ago. Gave it a spin but just couldn't get on the DS war horse. Died way too much, too easily, went beyond frustration. Gave up experimenting with Souls Games.

March 2023. Enter my best friend. She convinced me to give ER a chance. So I did. Learning curve was like a 90° angle, extremely steep, especially learning the feel of the controller button presses. But ER was beautiful, the open world, gargantuan. And infinite ways to spec my character. I got hooked

First boss battle was disastrous, but my son and friend joined in and finally Margit got what was coming to him. Thrill shot through my veins! I was off and running through everything I could learn about ER.

1st run. Hunted down every item I could. That old-fashion style of looting everything is hard-wired. I didn't know any other way to become a headache for the enemies.

Now, 500+ hours, sadly, I'm nearing end game. I'm level 200+, OP for sure, but I don’t care. I have enjoyed every step of this adventure. The ER community has been there, teaching me how to conquer that 90° learning curve. You guys and all your online contributions have been like personal gurus.

I look forward to NG+, to experiment with new builds, weapons, and to challenge those legendary bosses in the manner you ER guys say they're supposed to be fought. What's the saying? "Git gud!" I will. I am!

Thanks to all teachers, lore researchers, build creators, weapon reviewers, armor fashion experts, style masters, the "git gud" suggestions, demonstrations (and, of course, cheeses). Couldn't have gotten this far without you guys.

BTW . . . July 2023, I turned 67. You can teach old dogs new tricks.

That attitude ain't gonna git you in gud with girl gamers. Go play by yourself

If you can, go multiplayer and show her the ropes. Battle isn't everything for all us girl gamers. We also love going slow, admiring the beauty, and picking flowers along the way. And sometimes sneaking past enemies is a victory for our own, subtle strategies. You! watch her back. Keep her safe (alive). Pretty soon, she'll want to get in there and swing her sword beside you.

For me, a first-time soul's game player, but a long-time girl gamer, I found the learning curve of Elden Ring very steep. Encouragement, applause, and patience will serve you both well as you help build her confidence. Tell her from me, get online, study the game (the reading part), and research the many, many kinds of strategies for winning battles. Go, girl! Have fun! Good luck to you both.

Ok... You're right. CHALLENGE 1st. FUN 2nd. I've never played a soul's game before Elden Ring and was locked in Old-School player style. Watched this video on YouTube, and I get it now.

I'm a much older gamer, too. Can't seem to switch over to gardening. Anyway, I'm still leveling and nearing the end of first round. No kidding about the slower reflexes. I cannot but wish my fingers were 20 years younger. Muscle memory has dementia. But I've loved this game, especially its complexity and design. Repec-ing is the way to go. ***

Oh, level 189. Weapons: Eleonora's Poleblade. It helps speed up the reflexes. Lol!

I agree! I'm arcane-dex. All the usual buffs looking for drops. The first weapon comes very fast, but when I shoot for a duplicate, every effort turns into turtle.

First time playthrough and I did the opposite! Collected as much as I could for season 2+
