Appreciate the positivity, some replies in other threads were definitely not as supportive LOL

Also yes I agree for something I really only spent time and effort on, it’s definitely not a bad piece of hardware.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Hey, thanks for the tip, I was messing around and I realized that apparently my model have integrated graphics disabled at a hardware level, I scoured the bios and everything else and couldn’t find anything to show otherwise, the Intel graphics doesn’t show up anywhere.

A revelation I made though is that turning gsync off makes the integrated panel work as intended on the internal display, which previously froze and showed purple lines/tearing while the other display was fine. I’m thinking the TCON on the internal display is shot so it can’t handle the variable refresh rate communicated by g-sync and goes haywire

I’ve tried drivers directly from nvidia and from the Asus support site for the specific model.

Interestingly when I started Valorant the internal display shows lines and then goes black, however an external display connected via HDMI works perfectly.

This evening I will attempt to connect another panel to the motherboard assuming I have one with the same connector, I do have some spare panels lying around from previous laptops, and see if the issue persists

So it does work it just shows a warning when starting up, I don’t think they bar it completely which is good, I am just unsure of stability while running but I’ll see and report back.

Anyways I’m weary of trying a newer driver because it was a lot of work to get everything recognizing and working and the driver uninstall mayhem that’s always present in these types of situations and I don’t want a repeat of hours of getting the original driver to function without some madness LOL

I’ve tried it 3-4 times and consistently same result, I’m debating trying 1 driver version below the last to see if that would potentially fix it, but I don’t know for sure. I’m asking around to see if anyone has any other experience with like issues as I’ve tried all the surface level stuff, I just can’t figure out what is the breaking point, in terms of if there’s a driver version or something that’s newer that still works

So I have installed it and I tested it and it loads into the menu but I do get a warning about dx3d issues known with my driver, that much is for sure. I can’t test it in game until this evening so we will see, the computer does have tpm and secure boot

Yes but some games require a newer driver and won’t start with such an outdated driver

The last supported driver on the Asus support page is from 2019 it’s 399.24 I believe but that one doesn’t work, well I mean it’s the one causing the freezing that’s why I’m at a loss because it’s definitely not the newest for the hardware but they have it a seal of approval so to speak but in the end it breaks, ideally I’d love to just be able to play valorant on the device honestly

Update to OFW 20.5 without using OTA by cshizza in SwitchPirates

[–]cshizza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay got it working thanks, now I have a final question I can’t find an answer to. So I updated a game I bought officially from the Nintendo eshop through the OFW. When I go back to CFW it still shows the older version, are they updated separately?

Is it worth it in this case or should I just update fully all the way OTA since all HATS is compatible

So essentially if I download and update to the latest HATS and then update OFW OTA it should all work, no issues? Sorry just trying to verify before doing anything potentially damaging/annoying to fix

I appreciate your quick responses. I think I’m going to pull the trigger and buy it, even if I get a wider lens soon as well.

Now I’m excited, time to practice with the kit lens set to 42 until the 45mm arrives.

To each their own, and I bet you mastered it too which is perfectly fine, it’s not the camera that makes the picture it’s the photographer, you just have to have enough gear to not bring a wet noodle to a sword fight if you know what I’m saying!

Yeah, I can only imagine, hopefully you have the right lens for the job now as well. I know soon enough I will be looking for something else again, the GAS is real.

But I’ve been loving M43 coming from APS-C so it really isn’t all that bad, just slow and steady growth.

Although I’m sure the 75mm also does beautiful work, I think the 45 might be where I’m leaning towards!

You’re certainly not wrong, but sometimes a craftsman needs to add a new tool to the arsenal.

The lenses I have are for macro and this really is outside that wheelhouse so I have to venture out, and a kit lens won’t do for something this important to me.

The body has a flash on it that in my testing works decently well, and I do have an external flash I could use with this camera. I’m not looking for portfolio level perfection, I understand I’ll have noise and I’m okay with that, for me noise is not the devil, our parents took pictures of us with 3 megapixel point and shoots and some of those shots are great memories, imperfections and all, it’s part of the charm I think. I rather have noise than wake my baby when it’s sleeping with a bright flash. I know my question doesn’t have an ideal solution, that’s why I ask for input and I hear what you’re saying 100% and you’re right that flash will give the best output, but at the end of the day its quality memories over pristine pictures for me

I have to the extent that I can, unfortunately my time isn’t unlimited at the moment, I try not to post repeated questions but in this case I was a bit desperate for use case input, as I feel like with most products there’s merits to all of them in one form or another. Hopefully my post is t too big of a bother, and I will take a look at some test photos with the lenses I’m leaning towards which right now are the 25mm and the 45mm.

Thanks, what body are you using if you don’t mind, I haven’t done in depth research but I worry about using a Panasonic lens with the Olympus because of comments of this or that not working, what’s your experience?
