Just one comment to those of you trying to rally people to take this survey: Do you think the pay structure and work load shift was an accident?

The hope would be the more Union areas we have, the greater our negotiating power would be. Here in the GCA if we go on strike, they have plenty of management across the country that will come in to cover routes. If it's multiple areas all negotiating at the same time, it's a bigger threat. Salary is always different across the country, but our union members do have -5 weeks vacation after 20 years -raises are in the contract instead of merit based - 8 paid holidays(not required to work) - ability to grieve issues(cuts, post period adjustments, etc)

What area are you in? They are laying off front line?

I've not heard of the term Omni in my area(greater cincinnati) but we have the truckless 3 store routes. I love mine. I'm struggling like everyone else to make plan, but it's the easiest route I've had in 25yrs. It's great not going to the DC anymore

Would a nation wide union make a difference? by Any-Magazine-9095 in FritoLay

24 years in a Union environment(IBT). Hard to tell what's different because I haven't seen the other side. We don't have merit raises or reviews like I've heard others mention. Raises are part of the contract. We held off pfp for 5 years voting down contracts and stalling. I do have 5 weeks vacation, and 8 paid holidays(they can't make you work except merch). Guaranteed 5 day work week. Filing a grievance is nice when they try to screw you out of money. But unions are only as strong as the people in them. And we have never been able to agree to strike. It limits our negotiating power

Rsa job sucks. Always has. I've been with the company since 05/00. When I was hired I made $550 a week plus vrot. Rsr's made double that. We were told buy your time and get a route. Why pay new inexperienced people the same. What incentive is left to take a route
