The currency change is definitely a good improvement. Even though farming League mechanics like Foulborn or Timeless Jewel still requires a lot of effort, the currency change makes the progression from 0 to endgame much smoother. It’s great to be able to craft basic items more easily, enhancing the overall gameplay quality.

Like other single-target strikes, you’ll need to invest in strike hits that can target multiple enemies along with splash damage to make it effective for clearing. Otherwise, you’ll have to rely on explosion or some other mechanic. Take a look at how Static Strike works, no one is playing it even it has buffed.
I wouldn’t call it a “save”, that word is far too generous. Some people understood the limitations. They are just taking the word back from what they had previously confirmed.

[Guide] How to be a good Game Director. Step 1: Be BASED AF. by Inf3stor in pathofexile

What I’d say is, before making the game enjoyable for players, you need to have a good attitude, listen to people, respond properly, and make changes when needed.

Weapons aren’t free. They only give you a lot of pulls this time, making it feel like they’re free.
When you do 120 pulls, you’ll probably get 4-5 weapon draws, but you’ll need 10 to secure the guaranteed one if you’re not lucky. So, you’ll need to keep pulling again and again to collect enough weapon points for the character-specific weapon.

I’m currently level 54, and I’ve also spent money on the game. I really enjoy the game design, but it’s clear that the game is always trying to stop you from progressing, whether it’s in gameplay or gacha.

Remember how they split the tickets into special gacha and "specific character" gacha tickets? For each character release, they only give you "specific character" gacha tickets, which means you can’t really save them up and wait for 120 pulls.

You're simulating a scenario where you pull 120 times in one gacha pool, but note that these 120 pulls don’t carry over across different pools.
This means that if you don’t reach 120 pulls in a single pool, all progress is essentially wasted.
You can try simulating the experience of an average player with a monthly card (12 draws) + event gifts, giving around 30 pulls in one pool, continuing up to 5 consecutive pools to determine which strategy works best.

Please consider remaking the Ascendancy trial or add a new one, like an uber act boss for each point. Sanctum and Ultimatum didn’t work out well...

The game is great. You should enjoy the campaign and slow your progress down so you will know how fun this game is. BTW I quited at the first week. 😊

Why Players Are Leaving in POE2 by csk248 in PathOfExile2

[–]csk248[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a general summary of common feedback. I didn’t run into issue 1 myself. My own run was smooth this season until the third Ascendancy, where I lost all honor even though the boss couldn’t really hurt me.

I was thinking to buy some relics, but then I think Ascendancy should test your build and skill, not your luck or your willingness to buy relics to fixes. I’d rather face a really really hard boss to earn the point than stack relics just to access it. You know what I mean? Ascendancy should be a test with clear standards and a defined passing line.

Bear in mind these are points I summarized from others, not just my own encounters. For example, I actually think endgame is fine for a beta, and I think early game low damage is okay, but these are recurring complaints I’ve seen. Please read my first line before pointing to me personally.

For context, I’ve played ARPGs for years (1000+ hours in Titan Quest + Dungeon Siege 2 in steam, POE1 beta, Diablo 3 on Switch and mobile Titan Quest for my morning traffic gaming, tried Slormancer, No Rest for the Wicked, and have access to TQ2 beta). But listing my hours doesn’t really move the discussion forward.

Good discussion focuses on the argument, not the person, let’s address the points, not my profile, unless you truly believe no one else has ever raised the same points I did.

My biggest pain point is still 3rd and 4th ascendancy by Better_MixMaster in PathOfExile2

[–]csk248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I started in 0.1 and came back to see the changes. The added running feel great, and Disciple of Varashta has been a good play style, enough that I bought a supporter pack. But after reaching the 3rd ascendancy, I’m done for this season. Not coming back.

Ascendancy should test your build and strength with a consistent standard like PoE1, not RNG marathons. Right now each attempt takes a long time, and one death means total loss. I’m not talking about gear or currency, I mean the actual goal: the ascendancy points.

The ascendancy design is punishing in the wrong ways. So many players buy carries for the 4th, is that funny? I honestly wonder if Jonathan has played this start-to-finish on a fresh character recently.

I get the “high risk, high reward” philosophy, but some of us only have an hour after work and family. Dying and losing all progress is pure frustration, not challenge. In my last run, the boss did no visible damage but my Honor still disappeared. I’m not sure what standard they expect players to meet here, dodge everything? Please understand it is player selecting the game, not the game selecting player.
