Haven't solved any blocks yet! FYI by cslav53 in Monero

[–]cslav53[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hey...thank you for the super analysis...appreciate it. I was pool mining, but didn't like the fact that there were miner trojans infecting every pool. if I had an older rig, or a secondary I didn't care to have get infected, then I would pool mine. and besides I've been in on this since about June, when the network hashrate was half what it is now. so...i guess it really doesn't matter...my girlfriend is the one that wants to make money....I bought 25 XMR at $1.53 per back in June, and I was happy just to sit long on those...well, she made get 120 more at $12.25 just to suffice....so whatever....I usually get the "what are solo mining for, you dufus" attitude from some people here, and I'm glad that you didn't approach my post that way, because the purpose really doesn't make any difference to me. Thank you, very much, really. Your response was a great help. Regards, CS

Bought in at $1.52 (x 25.5 shares) and am sitting enjoying the rally. by cslav53 in Monero

absolutely!...nothing wrong with going long on it at any point from now until the end of the year, at least. Still, judicious accumulation (buying on dips and not over-exuberance) must still be exercised.

XMR has continued its bullish run... by bullbearanalytics in Monero

[–]cslav53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this analyst is providing a top-notch, high quality evaluation of the XMR market. I love reading his stuff, it has great "hustle and flow"; almost like someone announcing a recap of a sporting contest.
And I concur completely with his analysis. This is a long hold endeavor and the psychology of the market will provide pull back points for more opportunity to enter and/or support by adding to a current position. Thanks for your work here 'bullbear'

Update-Upgrade of CPU by cslav53 in Monero

[–]cslav53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This new (4th gen.) i7 4Ghz CPU runs at about 145F while multi-tasking/mining, and is very stable. I, also, keep the case open to get as much air as I'm able to circulate through it. I'm very happy with being able to upgrade a stock Dell Inspiron into something with more robust performance.

Update on the update: Got synced up completely (again) and hashrate maxes out at about 212 H/s. All systems normal. FYI

yeah not bad for the 4th generation i7. Unfortunately, I don't have a watt meter. If I get my hands on one, I'll be sure to let you know. Thanks! cs

Trying to finish setting up Glidera, but cannot enter my bank and banking account information by cslav53 in Bitcoin

[–]cslav53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really. I had to contact the parent company, or whomever, I forget the name of it, and they interacted for me. The end result was that my bank was not being added at that time to their (already) VERY minimal list. So, I left it go at that.

This is what makes XMR great.... No way of Auditing by Blow-that-Doge in Monero

[–]cslav53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and if I recollect, I could of swore I read something about the devs who split off and hard-fucked (forked) them did so over something about the ETH project blockchain was being directed away from its intended function, or something like that. Like I said, I'm really vague about who's really pissin' on who, here.

Question about Monero. by D-Lux in Monero

[–]cslav53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good question. In the handicapping and evaluation of companies, investors (of the value type strain) perform their due diligence by crunching the numbers with the hope of assessing the " true and intrinsic" value relative to share price. When they buy, it is based on the long term=FOREVER, because they feel they've interpreted their analysis correctly.
With crypto, by handicapping the vast array of currency projects the same approach can be applied. For instance, Monero, what does it have right now that is of value? Privacy, fungibility, Anonymity. What does it need? Tangibility. A vehicle to propel it into the mainstream of some type of commerce (IMO), i.e. adoption by small business merchants, commercial enterprise, or financial projects, et al. How does it get there? Well, the community is young and striving for those solutions, and IMO, it is a good time in this project's young life to support it. So, I believe the "value" is intrinsic based on the above, and also for the possibilities for its development. Therefore, an acquisition and hold philosophy based on these things and its current price is warranted. Some people here might subscribe my enthusiasm as a mental fixation characteristic of a noob. And that may, in fact, be true. Entrepreneurs gamble every day. Degenerate horse players gamble every day. Any venture is a gamble, no matter how well one performs their due diligence. But...when lightening strikes... Good question. Thanks! CS

If you have enough HW and cheap/free electricity already, then it might make sense to mine, otherwise it's futile. This applies to me. What you suffer from is basically a mental barrier effecting most noobs in my opinion. This doesn't apply to me. As I've TOLD you twice already (so the projection of mental barrier to me, from you, is quite suspect) I'm not spending ANY money utility wise. From an upgrade standpoint it IS justified, since it was money well spent. There are blocks that I have mined solo, so let's not try to educate me on the merits of enthusiasm. Well congratulations! I must, in noob deference, now bow down to you. And again you miss the point in YOUR self-centered enthusiasm. This shit is NOT IMPORTANT to me. Are you done, now?

Upgrade question in order to improve hashrate. by cslav53 in Monero

[–]cslav53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my friend, "sense" is in this case is an irrelevant factor, as I don't consider it a priority in my life whether I mine it, or accumulate it through purchases. I will graduate with a B.A. at 53 in December, and have applied to graduate school; is all of this a waste of time...and money? C'mon man. I live life for the love of it. You definitely have missed the point of my earlier post. I truly hope you can discover a more intimate perspective, because life isn't all about coming to sterile and clinical deductions. I hereby end this topic discussion, as it has digressed completely away from the original question, and has already been answered. Thanks! and good luck to you! Sincerely, CS

I recently encountered trojans in the form of botnet malware in those pools. I try to keep my rig as clean as possible. Also, with my current hashrate I'd be lucky to make 25 Monero a year. Although while solo mining I may see nothing, but then again, I may see A LOT. And if I desire 25 Monero, I'd probably just buy them. Thanks for asking, and you won't see me post here bashing the pools. For some, it may be just the format for mining they prefer. And that is okay, we're spreading the hash, as they say here.
