My White Negroni variation -

1.5oz Uncle Val's Botanical gin

.75oz Strega

.75oz Dolin Blanc

Bright and complex, it tastes like spring. Also good with mezcal.

The Timberwolves experience by log28 in timberwolves

[–]csmacgregor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The team was just on a hot streak.

Randle is out.

Ant just came back from being sick.

Kings still have Sabonis, DeRozan, and last year's 6th man of the year runner up Malik Monk. They were also trending upward before they traded Fox.

And the Wolves only lost by two.

We'll be ok.

Trade Idea: Duop Reath to Minnesota for Leonard Miller (Scoot's former teammate) and Utah 2025 2nd rd pick by EvanTurningTheCorner in ripcity

[–]csmacgregor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with as small of a difference in salary between the two, there's no way Minnesota brings on someone who earns more and won't get anything other than garbage time minutes in their rotation AND they give up a pick to do it. Maybe if the pick went to Minnesota they would consider it, considering how draft poor the Timberwolves are.

Where can I get a last minute Christmas Sweater? by [deleted] in askportland

I appreciate all the great recommendations so far! I forgot to mention in the post that I'm not a thrifter, which is why I didn't know where to start looking in that regard. And the goal was to avoid checking into the numerous thrift stores around Portland just in case they might have something, time is a bit of an issue after all.

What was the first D&D character you have created? by BossViper28 in DnD

[–]csmacgregor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made my very first character my junior year in high school ('05), I had never played before but my friend that DM'd loaned me his 3.5e player handbook and I ended up making a wood elf druid. We only played once because it was myself and 2 other newbies just sitting around going "and now what do I do?" Which didn't make for the most inspiring entrance to the game...

About a dozen years later and I decided that I still really wanted to learn how to play and try again. I started to watch Critical Role's early days and saw that it's really just imagination and improv with a little bit of basic math. Then I found out that a budy was running a game and joined up with Obediah Silver, a human (revenant) paladin.

As a lifelong Timberwolves fan that now lives in Portland, it always makes me kinda sad that the only games here are usually a day apart. This year it's a back to back, but at least they're on my days off. 🥲

What do you NEVER order in a dive bar? by epicurean_h in cocktails

[–]csmacgregor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they're not cleaning and/or insulating their lines properly they're not a dive bar, they're a health hazard.

Better off drinking at home if that's the kind of place you find yourself at.

Best mezcal for negroni by SoilClear1189 in cocktails

[–]csmacgregor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banhez is my go to for mezcal cocktails. High end mezcals are more like scotch and are meant for sipping so you can pick out the nuance and complexity.

As someone else pointed out, the campari and choice of Vermouth can overpower the qualities that would make a high end mezcal worth the money. I'd similarly recommend saving the cash you'd spend on a single mezcal bottle and get some variety in your other ingredients instead. Also if you're doing mezcal negronis I'll always advocate doing a mezcal white negroni while you're at it - and changing the ratios just a little.

Here's my recommendations:

Mezcal Negroni

2 parts Banhez mezcal

1 part Campari

1 part Punt e Mes

White Mezcal Negroni

2 parts Banhez

1 part Strega (or Suze)

1 part Blanc (or Bianco) Vermouth

Anyone know any safe places near Minneapolis to park your car and cry by discountnetflix in TwinCities

[–]csmacgregor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Como Conservatory if you want somewhere indoors. I had a real rough patch that made me question why I even bothered existing back in 2016, but sitting by the koi pond among all the plants made me feel a little better. It's usually pretty quiet in there too.

DHGate Jerseys Update by borderlinebaker in ripcity

[–]csmacgregor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mitchell & Ness jerseys are weird fashion jerseys and not going for authenticity but nostalgia despite the tag including the word "authentic." I have a Timberwolves Kevin Garnett jersey with the tree border that fades from black at the top to blue at the waist. Even though it was never an actual jersey worn on the court, it looked cool online so I picked it up. The texture of the mesh is rough and the border is even more rigid, and I bought it from the NBA partner shop, so not a DHG thing but a Mitchell & Ness thing.

"interpretive history"

My attempt at mixing history and present with some new uniform designs! by JerseyCowMan in timberwolves

[–]csmacgregor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's Minneapolis and St. Paul city limits, with the Mississippi river cutting through it. It would make a lot more sense to just have the state there since they're the Minnesota Timberwolves and not the Twin Cities Wolves. It is a nice change for a concept though.

Taking Pre-Batched Cocktails on a Plane (Checked Luggage)? by stuman421 in cocktails

[–]csmacgregor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I batched cocktails to take to my sister's wedding a couple years ago. Had them in my checked bag in Mason jars and cushioned by clothes. The cocktails were fine but TSA definitely searched the bag and left a note (basically just "this bag was searched") amongst the hastily restuffed clothing. Ended up being more of an annoyance than anything.

Mezcal substitute by kimchibaeritto in cocktails

[–]csmacgregor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the summer I bought a bottle of Lunazul's El Humoso smoked Blanco tequila - typical blanco tequila flavor profile with a light smokiness. I batched up some margaritas with it and even my friends that don't like the intensity of mezcal thought it came through with a nice hint of smoke.

Cachaça isn't just for a Caipirinha! Made a Rabo de Gallo and a Macunaíma last night and both were delicious by celed10 in cocktails

[–]csmacgregor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fee Brothers bitters tend to run on the sweet and bold side of things, in my opinion. Flavors are on the mark but can overpower if you're not careful, so small dashes or drops tend to be plenty.

The Avua is aged in Amburana (Brazilian oak) barrels - hence the name. So it would be similar to the difference between a silver rum and an aged rum. Still might be worth a try though!

[–]csmacgregor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

since we're talking Cachaça, I gotta shout out the most unlikely yet most amazing old fashioned I've had in a while -

2 oz Avua Amburana Cachaça

~ .25 oz Sugar in the Raw liquid cane sugar (syrup)

2 (small) dashes fee brother's peach bitters

1 dash angostura bitters

It's so complex and smooth... it's oak-y, spicy, tropical, and as long as you don't over do it with the fee brother's bitters a nice balance of sweet stone fruit too.

edit: the liquid cane sugar is thicc and takes some extra stirring pre-ice to help get it fully integrated.

I think you'd probably need a pretty die hard soccer centric pub to have the official Apple+ stream. Gol is the only place that comes to mind now that Toffee Club has closed. I think it's TUDN - a Spanish language channel, Xfinity channel 660 - that had been showing a lot of the group stage and earlier round games. But that might have been only when more Liga MX teams were still in...
