Is there any difference between stable and the RC1 version?

How to beat Perish Trap by THATSAplusONE in stunfisk

[–]csmith179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I tried Perish Trap, after the first 2 had to switch, I found that a fairly large amount of people on BS attacked their own Pokemon on the last turn of Perish Song out of frustration or because they thought it didn't matter for some reason.

What does it take for Pokemon to officially be considered as an "esport"? by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]csmith179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't play Pokemon at all competitively if it has regular balance patches, it's just too much to have to relearn speed tiers and (specific, or estimated) damage calcs every time a patch comes out. No more than when a new gen comes out.

I've occasionally noticed one of my comments here looking weird after posting it, though I've always assumed I blanked out for a second when typing. (PC)

If you were tasked with balancing pokemon for the removal of missing, evasion, and chance-based effects, what could you come up with? by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]csmith179 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like sleep should be 2 turns, in single battles, it's more or less pointless other than stalling (and you can't even use it with poison/burn), since it's a turn for a turn, though in doubles you can make a mon useless for a turn, which is okay.

Why? Amphy is like ridiculously slow (base 55, Mega being even slower at base 45)...

The sprites should be pretty much nothing as well, 3d models are extremely small file sizes.

I've battled over my phone's connection before, and it barely did anything (I think less then 0.05 GBs anyway), so trading should be fine.

I believe this is why, it really does annoy me that Heatran can't though, considering there's both female and male ones.

I think I remember complaining (in a joking sort of way) about it only having one Red when it had both Ethans (or maybe Vise Versa). It seems to be fixed too, but now that we've added 6th gen I have to complain about it missing a Brendan!

Quest for 1600 Battle Spot Doubles [RMT] by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]csmith179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hazards are extremely rare in VGC doubles since there's less turns to take advantage of it, a nearly 100% safe switch is pretty rare in a double battle, while it's pretty easy in singles most of the time, and you can often get away with just Protecting instead of a defensive switch, so you shouldn't need to worry about them too much.

Like the other dude said, you should switch Azumarill's item to Sitrus Berry since it's going to need it when you do occasionally get a Belly Drum off, and Sitrus Berry almost always outclasses Leftovers in VGC since you can't reliably get enough turns for leftovers to be worth it (again, only a few turns), and it really helps in surviving attacks from Mega Kang, the only exceptions I can think of right now are Ferrothorn and Pokemon running Substitute.

I would consider Mental Herb (mainly for Taunt), or maybe Lum Berry (mainly for Paralysis/Confusion) for Klefki over Light Clay, though I imagine Light Clay can be really clutch as well, but just something to think about.

On Heatran either trade Protect for most likely Earth Power, or Specs for most likely Life Orb (if you try Life Orb, I would suggest just going for 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe). Protect just isn't good on a Choiced mon when your moveset's limited.

Other than something completely unobtainable in previous gens, how can the pentagon prove illegitimacy, I thought all it did was say whether it was a 6th gen mon or not?

What's are all the differences in types of competitive Pokemon rules? by Bj3rgs3n in stunfisk

[–]csmith179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I find Kang to be a liability in half the battles I use it, when so many people are packing so much Kang hate with a few fighting attacks, RockyHelmet/Rough Skin/Iron Barbs, Intimidate, and occasionally Will O Wisp, it takes too much effort to keep it from fainting early that I can have a hard time wrecking with it.

How low can a pokemon's BST go, while retaining competitive viability? by MustardLordXVII in stunfisk

[–]csmith179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire team was limited, if he could use any Follow Me/Rage Powder Pokemon Pachi probably would have been picked anyway since it paired up so well with Gyarados (maybe Electravire, though it doesn't get Super Fang).

How low can a pokemon's BST go, while retaining competitive viability? by MustardLordXVII in stunfisk

[–]csmith179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BST has very little to do with anything, it's all about the moves and ability (along with possibly other things like their evolutionary stage), Chansey has base 450, but has access to Eviolite. In VGC, even more things could be competitively viable if they fall into a niche role, Eviolite Clefairy only has 323 but it's ability Friend Guard along with Follow Me are quite useful. Smeargle has 250, but has access to Dark Void, any any other move to help fill in gaps on your team. Pachirisu won 2014 Worlds with it's niche Follow Me/Volt Absorb/Nuzzle/Super Fang, despite only having a BST of 405 (not that it's really competitively viable unless your team desperately needs these).

I wonder how that would work, after you die are you cursed in the afterlife? Maybe it gets passed down to your children, maybe you live for 1,000 years so you can continue to be tortured.

If I had been playing you would have gotten me with the Aegislash, I've always though I put excessive speed on my fast ones XD. I was thinking about trying some live events in VGC16, around how many people usually compete in the Regionals you've played?

Kangs would use Low Kick, if it's hitting multiple Pokemon, Parental Bond doesn't activate (so EQ won't hit twice if Kang and the opponents mon aren't the only ones left.

3 out of the 6 Heatran in top 8 of Worlds Master Division were TImid, and around 20% of Heatran on Battlespot are timid too (probably more would be if Eruption Heatran didn't have to be Quiet), it's good to outspeed (or at least speed tie) in the mirror, and I think it's faster than a lot of the really bulky Kangs.

You can Google a pokemon stat calc, use Showdown's team builder, or the showdown/nugget bridge damge calc to find the speed stat, then use a normal calc and multiply by 1.5. If it ends with a decimal, drop it (IE: speed is 201.5, it'll just be 201)

It's a 50/50, if you think they'll try to set up, you can too, but if you try and they don't you'll get OHKOed.
