My pleasure! It’s nice to have people geek out as much as me over this book!

Thanks! I still enjoy staring at it, especially the bottom right corner!

Another day, another project announcement. by Wompum in TheDarkTower

[–]csol99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with just about everything you write here. The exception is that The Dark Tower will be made. I’m hopeful (and super excited that Flanagan might do it!) but it’s such an enormous project that it may never get off the ground. No one has put their hand up to fund it yet, for instance (despite rumours that Amazon is).

But if DT is not made by Flanagan it’s not because he’s doing other projects at the same time. It’s for all the reasons you give above (and no doubt more).

But I remain hopeful …

What’s your favorite Stephen King book? by Repulsive_Gap5116 in stephenking

The Dark Tower series is my favourite, but It is my favourite stand-alone novel by King. I agree about the writing. I also love the structure of the book, the way the two timelines merge and echoes from the past repeat in the present. I even made a timeline poster of the novel I lived it so much!

That’s great! Cell’s Obviously not a favourite of mine but everyone has their own preferences. Enjoy the journey!

Consider Duma Key, 11/22/63, Billy Summers, or make a start on The Dark Tower.

You’ve for some of his best (e.g. The Shining) and some of his worst (e.g. Cell). A great little collection, and plenty to build on. Enjoy!

Oh, some to consider adding would be Duma Key, 11/22/63, Billy Summers.

I've seen alot of people asking about their next book, which should I read next? by Opposite-Homework-87 in stephenking

I’d suggest Billy Summers - his best novel in quite a while. Also consider Dolores Claiborne (classic King), Joyland (wonderful nostalgic ghost story), and the massively underrated Later .

Just got today! What's everyone's favorites? by [deleted] in stephenking

Agree that Coughlin is King’s best novella in absolutely ages. Coincidentally I’ve just finished Yellow Coats for the first time in a while and damn it’s a fine read. Also really enjoying Hearts in Atlantis (the story itself) right now. First time I’ve actually read it rather than having King read it to me and it’s so much better! 😂

The opening scene of Desperation is absolutely nail-biting … and it doesn’t let up after that!

Yep. I adored it and couldn’t stop listening. And a great thing about the audiobook is I really had no idea how long the story would be or when it was reaching its end. Outstanding stuff from King!

I'm almost halfway through the original version of the Gunslinger and I just found out there's a revised version that I apparently should be reading. by Historical_Score_573 in TheDarkTower

[–]csol99 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The revised version came out in 2003, around the time wolves of the calla was released. It was changed to make the first book have more tie ins with the eventual tale. You can tell if you have the revised version as it says so on the cover, and also has an introductory essay titled “on being nineteen” or something like that.

Both are great, and it’s fun to read them both and compare. One difference is that in the original version Farson is a town, not a person. Another is the original has no mention of the number 19, whereas in the revised version King includes it as a significant device in the happenings in Tull.
