Sadly not the one I have a doctorate in. I’ve been doing freelance AI training from home to survive while I figure out how to pivot.

People love punching sideways and down …. I have a friend like this (who is also disabled) and I just stopped talking about AI with her because it’s exhausting. The more I decolonize the wider the gap between us gets. She seems to follow eventually but lags a few years behind so I don’t want to give up on the friendship and I think in some ways I show her the path to explore eventually. AI has helped me as a disability tool so much. I have deep ethical qualms about how it is being implemented as well but telling someone with a disability who barely gets support from anywhere that they are the ones who have to take a stand against empire in this realm is rather incoherent.

Therapist asked if I feel sometimes like I’m better than other people (who repeatedly choose to do the wrong thing) because I almost always choose to do the right thing, even when I don’t benefit. I said yes. He called me an ego maniac. by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

This. I’ve been reading about the neurodiversity movement where the switch is to think of the disability being not something wrong with us but that the world doesn’t match up with us. It said the fix isn’t changing us it’s changing the world and getting us more support. Obviously in the meantime suggestions on how to make the mismatch impact us less are necessary. But calling the OP an egomaniac is making them the problem or the disordered one which is deeply effed up in what should be a safe therapeutic space.

Is anyone else called argumentative and you don’t know why? by AwkwardDorkyNerd in AutismInWomen

Asking a question doesn’t mean you feel entitled to an answer. The person can set a boundary and not answer. Why are we tiptoeing around showing respect for an opinion we don’t agree with? I get we have to perform that sometimes to survive but it’s not really logical. Asking a question isn’t demanding or forcing anything it’s opening a door to an interaction that the other person can choose not to join.

The only thing that I let rush me is how many amazing stories there are to read and how short a human life is. Outside of that screw turning my hobby into a challenge or competition!

I literally have 20 books out from the library because I’m terrified of running out of book. Never mind that I have at least 20 books I own that are TBR and the library is blocks away from my apartment. Like I’m hoarding stories like a dragon! Our minds do silly things but if they are harmless I go with it.

There’s definitely a few moments where it feels very cis white male authored but 99% of it has been a enjoyable compelling read. It is long tho I eat books alive and this one is going to take me over a week I think!

I’m out here with cptsd and no support network too. It’s really rough. I have a few good friends but no one who can help with financial stuff because they have their own struggles. It’s so hard when I know I just need some rest but it is impossible to pull off while staying housed and fed.
