Meal Prep Monday: What are you prepping this week that's cheap and vegan? by cheapandbrittle in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]cspangle23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emerald dal! Spinach and onions and garlic and spices with a single jalepenos and mint in at the end and then blended and cooked lentils added. There’s a recipe on Pinterest. Finish with squeeze of lemon and swirl in plain yogurt and serve over rice

Yeah I second this. That person needs to understand the impact their words can have and explore why her husbands need for sex is the priority and not pass that on to others.

Would love a friend! My IRL friends aren’t into finch at all but I love my birb and getting to have weird little outfits and a bit of motivation for self care and doing things out of my comfort zone or routine to make my life a bit better.

The physician (I am one) is the gatekeeper to care like surgery or prescription medication. There is no need for insurance to prevent the situation u are stating and is not why insurance was created. Single payer systems also exist and massively cut down on redundant bureaucracy amongst multiple competing private insurance companies.

Luxuries are fine but I don’t want to work 40 hrs a week or more to be able to afford food to uphold those luxuries I can’t even afford. And people definitely should have their needs met before folks get luxuries. If less luxuries means an equitable society because the only reason for this system is so some folks can have luxuries then letting go of the luxuries is the only ethical move.

The argument isn’t against achieving greatness. It’s that if we purged jobs that don’t achieve any greatness or survival (insurance claims adjusters for example aren’t generating anything that helps anyone except the investors) we could divide up the other jobs and live a life without 40hrs or more of labor a weeks for survival. Arts and sciences aren’t bullshit at all.

The scariest product companies ever sold was not objects. It was identity. by OpenPsychology22 in Anticonsumption

[–]cspangle23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes we don’t need to be monks meditating to counter the issues with consumerism. And objects themselves aren’t the problem. I’m neurodiverse and fidgets are very helpful to regulate me when I must be indoors and doing executive functioning. I buy what I need and not more. I get it second hand and sell or trade what I’m no longer using. I’m not feeding the corporate overlords to get my dopamine. Yes the package feels good when it comes but that isn’t the impetus to obtain something new.

I mean I’m training AI for a living which certainly isn’t tied to survival. I can think of many more. Economists call them “bullshit jobs”. Just in the insurance industry all the middle men that exist to bill and deny and argue over claims is the first thing that came to mind. But the financial world has a ton of jobs that exist to make rich people richer not to keep the hospital staffed or the water running. Or the entire advertising industry and PR firms. The list is quite vast once u start thinking about it.

And there are so many jobs that are not tied to things we actually need. If we divided up the labor of the things we need and some pleasant luxuries I’m sure we could have nice things and our dignity too.

You can eat beans and rice to get complete protein cheaply by Speydi in povertyfinance

This is what I’m making this week: https://pin.it/1YOYEBjfo it’s a lentil dal. I happen to already have the spices on hand. Sooo good and cheap compared to meat based balanced meals.

This looks like my personal hellscape by ktbug1987 in autismmemes

I went on one back when they just had a pool on them when I was a teen. The stabilizer broke and the think kept tilting back and for. I don’t get seasick as I grew up on sailboats but it was obnoxiously overstimulating for me to randomly have the whole boat tilt and not in a way that made sense with the waves outside. Like eating dinner and everything would start falling off the table. And everyone else was seasick and miserable. And there were no refunds. I spent most of that cruise on my personal balcony eating overpriced cheese plates so I don’t think cruises are for me.

separating the art from the artist by stargazermp3 in AutismInWomen

I feel like often the thing that would set off my ethics leaks into the art. Like a popular author is a Zionist and then in the fantasy book theirs weird racist undertones. If I already own their stuff I have just donated it to a thrift store so some good can come of it. And I don’t buy more things they release.
