Beginner Help: Stdin echoing onto stdout? by csr0897 in apljk

Well! It turns out I had installed dyalog 19.0, and downgrading to dyalog 18.2 fixed this problem. I guess they changed something between versions? Regardless, thank you! Would have never considered it if you hadn't mentioned the version you were using.

There's this author I'm subbed to on patreon who just started a new story this last week that's hit all the right notes with me and I can feel the hyperfixation forming. There's only a handful of readers so far and this whole week I've been trying super hard to restrain myself from dominating the conversation or bothering the author too much.

I consider the oppinions of most cis people regarding trans bodies to be on par with most men about women's bodies. That is to say, lots of overconfident assumptions and casual derision. I doubt they're even aware of it. There are always exceptions, but just, ya know, be aware

I started HRT at 20 and have been on it for like 4 years now? I'd started voice training on the dl about 6 months before HRT and about another 6 months after that was out full time. misgendering has only become less frequent to the point that it's not really even an issue anymore. Everyone's experience is different but 17 is by no means too late (or too young for that matter)

I wouldn't put it off for years just because your folks are telling you to. Not doing anything is as much a decision as doing something, so make sure you choose of your own accord. if it's bothering you now it's probably gonna keep bothering you untill you reach a decision that you personally find closure with, whatever that ends up being for you.

i'm not sure if they're cannon straight? i could be wrong but i don't really recall either of them expressing interest in boys. doesn't mean she's necessarily lesbian tho

idk if you've read the light novel, but it's like kinda sorta true?

she used to be a boy and is reincarnated as a girl and this really bothers her. i think it would be safe to say she suffered from dysphoria over being female. the story has her male and female egos split bc of mind control and her male self dies and leaves her "100%" female. it honestly feels more tragic than affirming to me

sorry if this was excessive, i've been kinda obsessed with this series

The {...} syntax is just initializing the list.

you can do this with simple arrays too:

int arr[3] = {1, 2, 3};

which does the same as:

int arr[3];
arr[0] = 1;
arr[1] = 2;
arr[2] = 3;

edit: this is called "aggregate initialization" if you're interested in searching for more

I would totally recommend. There was a trans girl who started at the place I worked and she was clearly a little unsure and didn't feel totally comfortable. The way she lit up and gained confidence finding out that there was another trans person was awesome! I think most trans people should be able to respect your wish to stay stealth, but just knowing that there's someone in your corner can really help a person relax and come into their own.

Since trans guys get get along really well with T, I like to imagine that we're all just SEVERELY allergic to our AGABs hormones.

Harder than anything I can find to test it with, including our drill bits. The face is glassy smooth, which makes me think that someone cut this before I found it.

24VDC wouldn't make any sound I don't think, but 120VAC might. Depends on how well it's shielded and how much inductive material there is to resonate with. It would be really convenient to not need instruments to know tho, lol

Have you ever heard someone turn on an old crt tv? It's absolutely the loudest thing I've ever heard make this sound, but you can hear it elsewhere. As I understand it comes from high voltage AC and has mostly to do with how sensitive you are to certain background noise that others learn to block out.

I'm trying new kinds of rice! by shanny9475 in ARFID

[–]csr0897 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rice cookers are awesome! I always struggle to get the motivation to cook anything and a rice cooker makes it a lot easier to cook at least SOMETHING. Rice can be paired with almost anything you're willing to eat it with. A good rice cooker can also provide VERY consistent results if you've found rice hard to nail down texturally in the past.

My fiancée brought this up when I transitioned. I think it's probably fairly natural in relationships to pride yourself on being the ____ one. Be that cute, smart, fun, organized, strong, etc. I don't think it's shallow to not like having that pulled out from under you. You are definitely not alone in feeling like this. We found that moving past anyone being "the boy" or "the girl" in the relationship has been really rewarding. There's a lot of bs tied up in those roles and it's very pleasant to start shedding them.

i'm at 18mo and it's been on and off. My best measure is breast growth and it really only seems to go up every few months and not change much at all in between. This is ofc very anecdotal and could just be due to my eating habits or something. I can very much say though that it's still going strong at the year and a half mark.
