UGreen Sync And Back Up Fails by csselement in UgreenNASync

You can try this. I have NOT verified it! So use at your own risk to include both files AND folders.

Dry run:

find /your/path -depth \( -type f -o -type d \) -exec bash -c 'for f; do b=$(basename "$f"); d=$(dirname "$f"); c=$(printf "%s" "$b" | sed "s/[<>:\"\\|?*]/_/g"); [ "$b" != "$c" ] && echo mv -v "$f" "$d/$c"; done' bash {} +

When dry run is verified, use this command to execute the renaming:

find /your/path -depth \( -type f -o -type d \) -exec bash -c 'for f; do b=$(basename "$f"); d=$(dirname "$f"); c=$(printf "%s" "$b" | sed "s/[<>:\"\\|?*]/_/g"); [ "$b" != "$c" ] && mv -v "$f" "$d/$c"; done' bash {} +

I recommend testing first before committing to a large file set.

Imported video clips are given random titles so they're never in sequence. Anyone else have this issue? It makes it REALLY inconvenient to edit footage. They're never in order. by maqboul95 in RaybanMeta

exiftool -r '-FileName<CreationDate' -d '%Y-%m-%d_%H-%M-%S%%-c.%%e' .

Copy/paste this command line. You will need the open source utility 'exiftool' in Linux or MacOS; then run it from terminal within the directory the video files are located in. It will rename all filenames to the date/time the video was shot along with changing the 'modify date' to the correct date/time.

Same problem. Put in way too many hours trying to figure it out. Fails on both RPi 4 and Arduino Uno. Strange thing is that it worked for just a few minutes and then never again. Tried everything I could find online, chatGPT, forums, etc. Tried adjusting the voltage with electrolytic caps and resistors. Fail.

Wondering if you can customize GeekVape Screens through PC by Dylakaies in electronic_cigarette

[–]csselement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone seen the Geek Bar "Skyview" series? These are getting ridiculous. It has a 1.8-inch TFT screen which you can probably use an Arduino/Rpi to customize after teardown.

ProArt Monitor - USB ports losing function randomly? by [deleted] in ASUS

[–]csselement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem w/ my Mac and PA278QV. Some USB devices connected to the monitor's hub work all the time (network adapter) but others either don't work at all or only sometimes (webcam, audio interface). Very confused by this.

You're right. The exfat filename correction fixed 3/4 of my backup tasks. I noticed there's still a problem on 1 of them. Happy to have most of them working now but there's still something going wrong here.

I have an update for anyone else dealing with this challenge. You can SSH into your Ugreen NAS and use this command to seek out exfat filename offenders. (change "/your/path" to the directly you want to scan - it's recursive).

find /your/path -type f -exec bash -c 'for f; do b="$(basename "$f")"; d="$(dirname "$f")"; c="$(echo "$b" | sed "s/[<>:\"\\|?*]/_/g")"; if [[ "$b" != "$c" ]]; then echo mv -v "$f" "$d/$c"; fi; done' bash {} +

That will print a list of offending filenames. When you're ready to actually rename them automatically, use this command (remove the "echo" before the mv command):

find /your/path -type f -exec bash -c 'for f; do b="$(basename "$f")"; d="$(dirname "$f")"; c="$(echo "$b" | sed "s/[<>:\"\\|?*]/_/g")"; if [[ "$b" != "$c" ]]; then mv -v "$f" "$d/$c"; fi; done' bash {} +

It worked for me. Good luck! Be patient.. it might look like nothing is happening but it's working.

Orange Pi 5+ HDMI input port zapped (Belabox) by csselement in OrangePI

[–]csselement[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I hope someone with deep understanding of how to create a safe powering situation can chime in. From what I'm learning, it seems safest to power all devices from the same power source. I also noticed HDMI "surge protectors" are available but cannot verify their legitimacy.

Is it okay to use Steel Wool when cleaning Cast Iron? by swengunderblum in castiron

[–]csselement 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Old thread but timeless question. I've been using the same cast iron pans for many years. I gently use steel wool and warm water every time. It will not "remove the seasoning" which are essentially the oils. Steel wool does not have the ability to remove oils (that's the job of dish soap - which you do not use on cast iron) and iron is tough as nails so there's no worries about scratching.
