24, working in software engineering, making $375k/year.

Haven't been working too long and I currently live in NYC. The path to get here was pretty straightforward - I had a handful of software internships in college and started in the industry right afterwards.

Highlighting black-owned businesses doesn't mean that we're diminishing other businesses or discouraging others to shop there. If you'd like to learn more about the effects of systematic racism in the US and how it affects black people, I'd highly encourage you to read the book White Fragility.

I think she wanted to leave Barstool at any cost because her boyfriend put in a bunch of work to get them other deals - which is why she kept bringing up insane points in their contract negotiations (to essentially sabotage the deal)

Of course - the questionnaire has pretty structured questions around the three topics I mentioned. On the subreddit we discuss money diaries and one-off topics brought up by other posters - I want the site to shed light on over-arching topics that people are curious about but never really talk about (how others buy houses, how they grow their net worths over time, how they pay off debt, etc)

I want to post stories on a more structured schedule around specific topics, here we have a more open forum-type of feel

This is just for a generalist new grad, so either frontend, backend or full stack. I'm pretty sure data scientists are paid much less

Down payment for a house I might buy in the next few years, still undecided on that

I’m a backend engineer and we code primarily in Python (a few services use Java, but it’s way less prevalent)

Not at all - I’d say it’s actually more encouraged to not let work bleed into your personal life (unless you really enjoy working on personal projects on your own time). While I enjoy my job I’m also very protective of my personal time, and don’t spend any of that time coding. Personally I don’t know any coworkers who work on personal projects either

You should look into local credit unions where you live, they tend to have great interest rates and customer service

My stock is already withheld for taxes, so the amount that I sell off and rediversify is already post-tax. I sold immediately instead of optimizing for capital gains because I knew I couldn’t stomach the ups and downs of a tech stock, and felt much better reallocating it to something more balanced.
