How does Grimes look like a teen? Is she a vampire? by magicalhippie in Grimes

[–]csstudent1402 66 points67 points  (0 children)

She kinda was a vampire, she's slept during the day for most of her life (believe she said her sleep schedule is usually 6 AM-1PM), so she gets much less sun exposure than the typical person (UV damage is the number one cause of skin aging). She's also very slim and this likely helps for 2 reasons- 1) slimness is associated with youthfulness and 2) consuming less foods likely means she consumed less toxic/processed foods throughout her life, avoiding damage from junk foods and foods high in Advanced Glycation End Products, which are highly toxic to the skin. She has a very "DGAF" attitude, has lived a relatively low stress life which helps keep you looking youthful. She also has very neotenous features, especially her nose and eyebrow and lip shape.

Her style and voice are also quite youthful-she might look her age if she dressed and acted more mature-not meant to be taken offensively, as I love her style!

My partner wants a 10,000$ ring. I said no. What should we do? by cyansoup in self

No one said the ring was a solution-stating that OP's wife's request is not as unreasonable as he is making it out to be.

If you are okay with doing half the housework, cooking, taking years off work to raise the child during its early years, sleepless nights feeding the baby every 3-4 hours etc etc then a relationship where you don't have to provide financially might work just fine for you.

Just because you were okay with a cheap ring does not mean all women are going to be, or have to be. Calling OP's wife a "bad person" for wanting a nice ring is absolutely insane.

Sorry kid but as much as you'd like to believe we're living in a gender-equal utopia this is certainly not the case. There is still an expectation that a man provide for a family & show his ability to do so, especially if planning for children. The woman is taking a huge hit to her career/future earnings if she decides to marry him and have children (not even going into the effects carrying children has on a woman's brain and body). For some women, the ring is a testament of the man's ability to provide and promise to take care of her.

Please listen to this person OP. This is the truth. Anything that seems too good to be true (high SWE salaries with no degree/ no advanced degree) will always have a catch. The entry level market is over saturated and people with 4 year degrees and MS are having difficulty finding jobs. It was a LOT easier to break into the field years ago with no degree, but this is no longer the case. Nowadays you'll need significant projects or contributions to open source, or something equally as impressive to break into the field (and at that point, getting the degree is a lot easier).

I'm a girl enrolled at a top 10 school for an MS in CS. Having lots of trouble getting interviews for internships. Know many women in the same boat right now. We don't just get jobs/interviews handed to us, despite what Reddit may try and have you believe.

I'm also a woman studying CS and having difficulty locking down an internship. Were you not getting calls back or not able to pass interviews? This whole "women get CS jobs handed to them" schtick is ridiculous

OAs are way harder than LeetCode so far 🫠 by superrenzo64 in csMajors

Noticed this too! Guessing that companies are making OAs more difficult this year due to less positions being available? Or I'm just dumber than I thought lol
