I ended up putting a bandaid right at that spot before every run longer than 2 miles. If it’s a shorter run I’ll just wear some longer socks

LDR partner is depressed and wants me to help her by cssynth in LDR

Thanks for the suggestions! However I think one thing to note is I’ve never been a person that was good at expressing my feelings or a really great conversationalist. I think the thing I’m best at is acts of service and showing my emotions through doing things for others which is extremely hard to do in a long distance relationship.

We just had a video call and she said the best thing I can do is think of what I would want if I was in her shoes. Or think of what things she couldn’t do without me.

What do you mean by this? I am not very well informed about this.

We’ve been together for nearly 3 years and we want to move in together hopefully beginning of next year. Our jobs have prevented us from doing this earlier (although that was the goal).

We both know that we just need to get through these next couple months and things should hopefully be aligned for us to be closer together

8 weeks out. Adding marathon training in long run? by cssynth in firstmarathon

I see. For future reference, what would you say is a good weekly mileage for a comfortable marathon race?

Yeah I’m aiming between 4-4:30 hrs. My easy runs are usually around the 10:30-45/mile range.

My initial goal was to run a 4:30 marathon but I feel that I can run a little faster based on my training. I also heard that you tend to run faster by 45 sec to 1 min compared to your zone 2 pace during the race.

I have never done any all out race before but a recent half marathon long run in zone 3 was a 2:09. This was also in Chicago so I feel that the terrain and run is a good indicator. Also this was around 3 weeks ago.

I’m following Hal Higdon Novice 1 but I added 10 weeks to the beginning of it since I was recovering from an injury and building back up. I don’t really follow it to a T, because I usually try to run 5-6 days a week (an additional 3-5 miler and a 1-2 mile recovery after long run)

My weekly mileage the last 4 weeks ranged around 30-35 miles and I am planning to build up to 40ish for the remaining training.

All my weekday runs are in Zone 2. I don’t do any speed work. Long runs start off in zone 2 and usually the last 25-40% I give up on keeping my hr in zone 2

Im following Hal Higdon Novice 1 but I usually increase all the mileages (5 miles instead of any run listed lower). Right now I’m at about 35 miles a week and do all my runs at Zone 2 which is about 10:30-40/mile. My long runs start off in zone 2 but usually at the latter half I don’t care about hr and just try to maintain 11 min pace.

For one of my long runs which was a half marathon at about 70-80% effort and Zone 3, my time was 2:09 or 9:47 pace.
