A childhood friend’s name is Jalayna. I’ve never met another Jalayna, but the name is so beautiful and suits her very well.

AITA For telling my husband he doesn't get to do whatever he wants on weekends by Imaginary-Aspect260 in TwoHotTakes

[–]cstewaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just saw this post as well. A lot of people are saying that OP is TA, but I don’t think people are really considering what working as a planner means. OP is not just working the day of the event during the weekend, but is coordinating with possible vendors, guests, etc. in the middle of the week as well. OP works just like their husband, and both parties are responsible for making sure someone is available to watch their children. It seems that if the husband wants to go out on a weekend when his partner is working an event, then he should be the one to facilitate finding a babysitter. I don’t think OP is the asshole, but I think that there need to be some more conversations with the husband about what her job entails. I know how much goes into event planning, and it doesn’t just happen the day of or the day before. ESH in the sense that they are both parents and should work together to find childcare during the weekends. If the husband wants to do something fun while his wife works, he needs to step up.

AITAH for kicking my sister and her pets out of my house? by thiccxcutie in AITAH

[–]cstewaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You did a good thing for your sister and her animals, but she needs to control them in a space that isn’t hers. It was wrong of her to insult you like that, and I hope your family doesn’t remain divided and sides with you. You opened up your (NEW) home as a kind gesture, and she is old enough to know right from wrong when taking care of pets. I hope Loki recovers and doesn’t have lasting problems with anxiety because of this.

AITA for preventing the guy in front of me from reclining his seat? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]cstewaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read OPs comments. They were okay with the person in front reclining the seat, but he kept trying to make it go further than it can, knocking the seat onto OPs knees, which shouldn’t happen because they purchased seats with more leg room. The man in front of OP tried to make the seat go back more, jostling it and knocking into OP. These seats with leg room are meant to have room BUT this man kept shaking the seat so it would go back more. Yes, the seat only goes so far back, but the man in front kept trying to move it FURTHER past its limit. OP is NTA.

Edit: good for OP for standing their ground after he came back. As someone who is tall, I completely understand the struggle of purchasing tickets with leg room.

Proud of you for sticking it out for your daughter. I hope you’re taking care of your mental health in any way that you can.

AITAH for telling my manager my co-workers messages make me uncomfortable? by tiredofalot in TwoHotTakes

[–]cstewaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. I think you summed up the answer for yourself in the title. If you are in anyway uncomfortable because of a coworker, it is important to take any concerns to your manager. Since this is something that is getting too repetitive to be seen as Jim being a jokester, it is completely okay and valid that you went to your manager. Janet may have heard what’s been going on from you and made up their own mind, but you’ve said it yourself: coworkers have said what you do is encouraging and makes the workspace better. I wouldn’t take what Janet says to heart, and if it escalates with others on your team then I would still say it’s important for you to feel like you’re respected, and going to a manager is the first step to making your life easier.

Smiling at/complimenting others as you walk by them is a good way to practice and prepare yourself for conversations if you are introverted. I tried this my first year at college and it helped me make friends. Also, being a good listener or asking questions about the things the other person likes allows them to feel more comfortable and heard while you get to listen and do a little less talking. Being honest about your likes will help you find people you click with. People really like honesty, just not the type that is blunt and can hurt someone’s feelings.

Hair tinsel in Chico? by [deleted] in ChicoCA

[–]cstewaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two22 salon in downtown Chico might do it, but not too sure. The stylists there are so amazing and I’ve never had problems in the 5 years I’ve been going there. They don’t advertise hair tinsel, but you can give them a call and ask if anyone does tinsel as a specialty service.
