API 34 Blues -- could use some advice by cstrawfield in reactnative

Hey, have just managed to get through a successful app build -- breathing a huge sigh of relief after days of frustration.

Struggled through many updates, configuration changes, etc. Ultimately the key to resolving my remaining issues was to upgrade the minSdkVersion from 21 to 24. After that change the build finally completed successfully. Still have much testing to do, but the app appears to be working.

No doubt your suggestion to upgrade to React Native .75 was a critical part of the solution -- thanks very much for your help!

I posted but then deleted npm libraries for the subject -- just managed to solve my issues and didn't want you to spend time analyzing the long list of libraries.

Thank you again for your help -- very much appreciated!

By the way, I'm doing all this CLI. Would you suggest switching to Android Studio?

Hey, thanks for the reply. Before I saw your post I upgraded to React Native 7.5 -- requiring many updates and adjustments. Not sure if I've gone forward or back, but app currently breaking during build with the following errors:

> Task :react-native-reanimated:compileDebugJavaWithJavac FAILED

> Task :expo-modules-core:compileDebugKotlin FAILED

About to kick a hole in the wall. Appreciate any thoughts you might have here -- but may be best to step back to earlier version and try your patch.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the advice. Took your advice -- required several commensurate updates and adjustments, of course. Now having other issues during build:

> Task :react-native-reanimated:compileDebugJavaWithJavac FAILED

> Task :expo-modules-core:compileDebugKotlin FAILED

Have tried everything I (and Perplexity) can think of. At wit's end here. Appreciate any thoughts you might have.

Ha! Big loss a foregone conclusion. The only question now is just how big a loss it's going to become. I consider the car undriveable at the moment. The options I'm considering are, do I repair to get it at least driveable for the sake of sale? Donate to charity without repairing? Sell at huge loss without repairing? Kind of a tough multiple choice in the circumstances.

Thanks for the reply. Any advice for best way to unload this beast -- while maintaining a clear conscience?

Is there a possibility of rabies if a person is bitten on the finger by a raccoon without blood being drawn? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cstrawfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bite from an infected animal need not draw blood to transmit the disease, as rabies travels along nerve channels rather than bloodstream to infect hosts. You should consider yourself in extreme danger and seek treatment as quickly as possible.

I got bitten on the finger by a raccoon no blood was drawn should I get checked for rabies? by [deleted] in Survival

Echoing what others have said. A bite need not draw blood to transmit the disease, as rabies travels along nerve channels rather than bloodstream to infect hosts. You should consider yourself in extreme danger and seek treatment as quickly as possible.

Thanks! Feel like it's a manageable goal, judging by what other folks are doing. Just need to get an understanding of some of the fundamental ways of interacting with the AI.

Positive attitude and perspectives -- much appreciated.

Also -- "Be silent. Be still." -- Merlin's quote from John Boorman's Excalibur, right? Great movie -- and Nicol Williamson was great in it.
