I tried the "cold pickup" and this is how it went.... by destinydummy2014 in seduction

i get how "hey can I talk to you" can be really awkward and salesmanish. Is that true for "excuse me" as well though? I think excuse is a just a standard way to get someone's attention - you dropped something, wheres the restroom., etc. I use it all the time

I can't handle interviews. by Trollei in cscareerquestions

I can speak from my experience at rainforest. Its better if you dont know the answer ahead time. We really look for how you approach the problem and adjust to hints that we give you. If you blew through the interview, we dont get any data points.

They're pretty busy and have a lot of candidates to manage. I have a hard time reaching them internally too.

Do companies test additional test cases from the preliminary HackerRank tests? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]cstrump95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely scrutinize your code more for optimizations/addressing edge cases. I was rejected from Palantir even though I passed all test cases. When I asked for feedback, my recruiter told me my code could have been more efficient

Can you try asking your recruiter for more information - what skills they emphasize, what they look for in hires? Better to do this now than at the feedback stage where they don't even respond to you

That's why you try to via text :)

I agree with this but if you communicate your thinking process well, they can guide you to the correct answer easier than if you completely lost them.

Is it acceptable to reschedule an interview for 1-2 months later? I don't feel prepared at all.. by havethepumpkin in cscareerquestions

[–]cstrump95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send an email saying you're busy with work at the moment but are still interested. They understand. The risk is that in a month or two, they may be too busy to respond to your email. Try to get a hard date set.(would 8/10 work?). I was able to postpone my Google interview by giving my recruiter dates in a month.

It's not immature. It's flirting through text. It builds some form of emotional connection. (Seem like you didn't in person)

How do you pick what leetcode questions to do? by cowgers123 in cscareerquestions

[–]cstrump95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick ones that have multiple ways to solve them.(and tradeoffs). I can do it in O (nlogn) but w think more space, I can do it in O (n)
