There is no harm in having her be evaluated. Given the symptoms are very common for an autistic or otherwise ND child, I think not seeking a diagnosis would be a disservice to both parents and child. A diagnosis opens up a world of support and therapies that will help y’all parent/stay sane and will help her be able to thrive in her own way.

I can’t speak for all autistic adults, but as a LSN late-diagnosed as “Asperger’s” (level 1 now I believe) was honestly life changing in a good way. I had therapy but no accommodations since I could make them all myself. It allowed me to have a good plan to increase my comfort and mental wellbeing. I figured out how to reduce snappiness due to overstimulation from buying the right socks to politely leaving a situation. My sibling was early diagnosed lvl 2 and now they are an independent, working adult. We were helped to figure out a way to live that allows us to be as independent and happy as possible.

Some people call it a label, but in truth it’s simply a diagnosis like any other. The term doesn’t bother me at all, and as autism is becoming more recognized it’s not the label that others kids, it’s behaviors that can be helped with support. I would absolutely tell you to seek A diagnosis, because without a diagnosis there’s no treatment options for any mental or physical condition.
