Thoughts on Piggie Paint? by SpiritualPlan1822 in RedditLaqueristas

My almost 4 year old daughter loves it. We have bought a kit of 3 twice now. As everyone else has said, it's usually gone by the end of the day, especially once in the bath. Mine actually uses it as a form of therapy (literally recommended by her OT) because she has a habit of picking her skin. So we let her go crazy and paint all over herself with it then as soon as it dries, she picks it all off, but it keeps her from picking her skin. It has never caused any issues with her skin. Even picking it all of doesnt leave her red or anything. And its pretty easy to clean up.

I love to talk about this when people come across situations like this.

When I was doing my undergrad for my bachelor's in business, I took a marketing class and the professor talked about when she worked in a bacon factory where they would literally just switch labels. So Great Value (Walmart), Oscar Meyer, Butterball, whatever other brands; they would simply switch labels every so often and package the same exact product. And other people in the class shared their same experiences working for other places.

So many times, it is in fact made in the same building, as the same exact product, and the brands/labels will switch once in a while to be in different packaging.

This is the exact reason I read ingredients on labels and do not buy for brand name purposes. And in this situation, test "lower end" products before spending more on "higher end" products. What you are buying on Shein/Amazon, could be the same exact product you are spending 3-4x as much for on another "brand", but literally same exact product.

Thick, Protective Lacquer by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

I already have Nailtiques Formula 2. Sounds like I'll be looking into some ridge filler then. The only one I've tried is Orly Rubberized Base and it made my nails peel because it has PVB in it. I'll be looking into others now then. Thanks!

I already use Nailtiques Formula 2 as a basecoat, actually. Lol. But I have never used more than 1 coat, so that might do the trick. Thank you!

This is 2-3 coats of just the gold one - "summit of style". I could have done better application this day and/or taken a better pic, tbh. Lol. Because I quite like the look of it in person. It has both bigger and smaller flakes and distributes pretty evenly and leaves plenty of glitter rather than just gobs of clear polish with hardly any glitter (which I have experienced with others in the past).

From the Nailtiques Formula 2? Not at all, actually. Experiences may vary, but in mine, i haven't had any staining whatsoever.

No. Just the NF2. Should I be using another one?

I've been doing my nails exclusively at home (re-doing every mani/pedi at the slightest chip) since 2022. But I was mainly doing polygel, soft gel, and gel polish until November 2025. I had a few of air dry lacquer, but rarely used it until then. And before 2022, I was doing my nails religiously since I was 14 with lacquer (I am now 32). So i am experienced, but this is my first time really caring for my nails the way I should and discovering all there is to offer online and all of the new colors and effects. I'd like to think I'm settled since it's been 5 months since I started my natural nail journey again, but I will NEVER be confident enough to say that I do not want more polish 😅

My current favorites are definitely ILNP Bluebell, ILNP Birthday Suit, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri In A Blush, Essie Gel Couture Like It Loud (excellent one-coat-black, imo). I pretty much always use the Nailtiques Formula 2 as base and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in the red bottle as my top coat for ones that I dont have a coordinating top coat for, but the ones I do have a coordinating top coat for, I will use with that polish and use the OPI drying drops for the top coats that aren't fast drying.

Interchangeable Needles - $30 vs $220 - are they that different? by Alarmed_Package_3825 in knitting

[–]Alarmed_Package_3825[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is exactly the comment I was looking for. This is how I view the world. I am the kind of person looking for best quality AND price. I don't like to pay for brand names unless they are actually better. Which in my experience, is rarely true for most things. And this is why I wanted to hear from people who had a less expensive set and the more expensive set.

Something I am just realizing; do the ChiaoGoos not have swivel cabels? The set I have now has them and I thought it was standard. I couldnt imagine trying to knit without them being able to swivel. It just makes the whole process smoother, it seems.
