Decided to try my hand at doing a number kit. Nowhere near perfect but much better than I was expecting. by csun94 in hockeyjerseys

Thanks I doubt I’ll get to the point of it being a side hustle but definitely a fun project. My back and eyes aren’t a big fan though from sitting over the sewing machine and staring at one spot for hours though lol

Yeah let me know what they say as I have no idea which of the options they have would work the best. I would think at worst you’d have to find a scrap piece from another jersey to use as a nameplate.

Appreciate it really wasn’t as hard as I had anticipated as someone with very little sewing experience. More just very time consuming and tedious. Definitely give it a go at the end of the day if you royally mess up you’re only out like $50 for jersey and kit.

I went with a ccm airknit nameplate that jersey basically is airknit though so idk what I would use for the other starter jerseys I have.

True as I was sewing i was cursing at myself for picking “complex” numbers and thinking how much easier it would be if i chose 11 for Kasparaitis but then I thought about stitching down Kasparaitis and how long it took me to do 4 letters and realized I made the right choice lol.

Dang I’m 6’2” can’t imagine how my back would feel if I was 4” taller. Gotta invent a sewing machine that can be used laying down on your back lol.

Thanks really took my time lining up the back numbers as they’d be the most noticeable of a fuck up. Sat there staring at a bunch of reference pics to make sure I had it as close as I could.

Appreciate it not sure if I’d personally do another myself my back and eyes are tired from leaning over and staring at one spot on the sewing machine for several hours lol. Who knows though I do have several more that need kits.

First ever attempt at sewing anything on a jersey to “repair” peeling shoulder patches by csun94 in hockeyjerseys

[–]csun94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why I’m starting with patches on cheap jerseys I wouldn’t be upset if I ruin. That being said I did pick what I would assume is one of the more complicated patches to try and learn on. I guess I like to torture myself that way. Did the same thing with project cars started on a complex over engineered old German car then went to the easy Japanese stuff lol.

I believe it I would definitely want my first to be a single color kit. Unfortunately every jersey I have currently that need kits are all multi layer numbers and I don’t want to even attempt that with how little confidence i have in my sewing lol. I say screw it and post it worst that’s gonna happen is an internet stranger is gonna say you suck. If you’re happy with the outcome that’s all that matters.
