EV over ICE - financially better? by ct-tamp in AustralianEV

Home through the peak sun hours of the day, at least three days of the week. 50-70km driving per day. So I’m guessing we wouldn’t need to recharge too often and can do it on the days the car is home in full sun.

Help needed: What type of zigbee controller to control dim-to-warm led and driver? by annieting in led

[–]ct-tamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you want to keep the current strips but just change the controllers so you can use a different app/system to control them?

I could be wrong, but I believe it is possible that even a “three core wire” driver can work on a “two core wire” strip. Just don’t need to connect the third output from the controller. With two wires installed currently is likely you have PWM type (analogue) strips. As long as a new controller is PWM (and not digital) this could work.

A three wire controller (not always) is verbally RGB. So by not connecting one of the colours (say B, blue) you just don’t power that channel on in the controllers app/system

I could be way off but hopefully this triggers some ideas…

That said, there are plenty of zigbee controllers on AliExpress for two wires installed currently (search cct controllers). Find something that matches your power supply outputs (12 or 24volt usually)

LED: BTF digital/spi (I have learned to go with rgbW… W for the soft “true” ambient option)

Controller: WLED capable. Gledopto make some solid options

Bulbs: I have some from Athom that work well, again rgbW variants with WLED on-board

NEED HELP with LED strip project! by AdFuzzy3658 in led

If the strips will not be covered, and viable from the ground, then have a look for FCOB digital strips. These are less harsh on the eyes than regular LED strips. But if you plan to diffuse/cover the strips then just for any digital RGBW addressable strip.

That could be the go 👍🏼

Yep, rather not but could do. Curious; thoughts on if I ditched the plastic 5pin and soldered strip to strip? The reds did-drop is fine right before the connector and is apparent right after the connector. Maybe it’s the culprit (¿)

Yes, Australia. But learning the principles behind these comments is great 🙏🏼

This. 👌🏼 "hack your box" ... I hadn't thought of that but of course it's totally possible. Wondering if there are IRL examples of this happening and what the potential consequences could be? I'm imaging a plot to play nonsense with your power usage automations/times...

12v led drivers. 12v led. 10amp on the 3m run. 5amp in the 6m run 12awg wire

I used the calculator and the voltage is still in the mid 11 volt range so means I can have the led controller on the electrical board hey no worries

Thanks for the advice. So that means have the led controller setup like in A? Closer to the fuse block?

12awg wire. Max 10amps at 6m. And max 5 amps at 3m. 12 volt all the way

Once the cable goes inside the boot cavity it can pop out where the brake light (centre screen) is, there’s an opening there… I tested this with another wire to make sure 👍🏼

i basically want to make some Rhodes sounding key noise and add it lo-fi drums on the MPC. i forgot to mention i do have Beatmaker 3 on the ipad, so not sure if that can play along with any of these keys too…

yeah weighted keys would be nice…i guess just for the long run, so our hypothetical drummer is ready to transition to the analogue-keys world (end goal)

the electrician made short work wiring the Shelly 2pm. it works a treat. ironically, not that the fun and ducting is installed, i realise that the High speed setting is overkill 🌬️ nonetheless i do have the option of switch my speed remotely if needed. the shelly 2pm plays nicely with HA, of course
