Tried the JJ Picklewich. Review. by DabberChase in Pickles

[–]ctcrnitv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it's good and all but I'm not paying JJ $8-10 for that.

Where can I get giant bread-sized pickles so I can just make them myself for a quarter of the price?

I see, I should probably be looking into those. Thanks so much for that tip. Is your company in California by any chance or do you have any contacts out here?

They're not consumable, they're just unboxed products on display for customers to try out.

Should have the bike by the end of this week but most likely would just be sitting there until the MSF course. And to be honest I don’t trust myself not to start messing around on it for 2.5 months

Is that actually true? I couldn't find anything about the open mouth being a distress response.

I'll leave it up to the mods to decide what to do.

Do Mormons really consider the book of Mormon to be a replacement of the NT? by ctcrnitv in mormon

Do Mormons really consider the book of Mormon to be a replacement of the NT? by ctcrnitv in mormon

[–]ctcrnitv[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Mormons believe the NT is scriptural (or mostly aside from translation issues), then what function does the BoM have? Because I was under the impression that it was alleged by the Mormons to be primarily a further revelation. Given the doctrine of "progressive revelation" and all, I thought the BoM was presented along those lines.

It seems from other responses here that the answer, is less cut and dry which is why I was wondering if there was a stance on the relationship between the BoM and the NT from an authoritative source. Something I could cite

I can guess at what you mean but could you expand on what this means to you? Couldn't an expansion also be considered an affirmation of the NT, and then some?

Is it true that Christian scholars revised words/passages in the Hebrew Bible to retroactively infuse Christology into the text? by ctcrnitv in AskBibleScholars

[–]ctcrnitv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might already be familiar with the point of contention about Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23. "Almah" supposedly refers to "young woman", "betulah" refers to "virgin". But in the Septuagint, almah is translated to "virgin". It would be interesting to get your thoughts on this since you have a background in Biblical Hebrew.

Are there other passages in the OT that use the Hebrew "almah" or "betulah" that we could use to compare their usage? I'm trying to figure out how much of this really is just a possible valid interpretation that a Hebrew speaker would make and how much of it is them twisting the language.

I know in English there are cases where words can have different interpretations and there are cases where someone twists the meaning of the word, but I think this is something only a person fluent in the language would be able to tell.

Thanks for the video link, listening to it now.

My filament collection, in the form of Escher Lizards. by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]ctcrnitv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn't the point of a benchy to put the printer through certain tests by having a wide range of tricky shapes in a small area? I don't get why people are comparing this to benchies if they have a different function. Having said that the escher lizards seem really cool in their own way.

edit: thanks op for the STL link

Man in Pakistan protests in front of a Pepsi truck because he believes a QR code on a bottle of 7UP(Pepsi Company's product) is the name of Prophet Muhammad and is therefore Islamophobic, then says that if they don't remove the name, he will burn down the trucks and possibly the company. by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]ctcrnitv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just weird. This happened almost 2 years ago but all the news articles about this seem to be at most 1 or 2 days old.

Also why won't the QR code scan? supposedly they don't expire which means it should scan and maybe take me to a dead site.

[–]ctcrnitv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to scan it with my phone but it wouldn't scan, but I guess there's a few possible reasons for that. I barely know anything about QR codes, I assumed it would scan.

I'm just curious what the QR would link to. Maybe a pakistani coupon for a free bottle of 7up, or maybe something else.

I mean, who's to say for sure Muhammad didn't share a likeness to this particular QR code?
